A lot of stuff Jeff Beck and Steve Vai do with the vibrato bar where you play a harmonic and change the pitch to make a melody Ray Gomez was doing that first. Beck told Ray he got it from him but Jeff never got around to saying it publicly if you know what I mean. Its a credit to narada that u guys like his early, more organic stuff and I love his later, more poppy stuff. Narada has been around for a long time eh?

I used to wonder why I never got to hear him anywhere except on Narada's and Stanley Clarke's albums... ...I thought it was a nice contrast to have both Ray Gomez and Carlos Santana on Narada's compositions, "Awakening Suite part 1" and "The Awakening"...Ray Gomez plays beautifully on the Suite, and then Carlos opens up on the actual song....a great showcase for both players....actually, on his early albums, Narada featured the guitar so much, I thought he was a guitarist, ..... ... Last production I saw of him was on tevin campbells 1999 album. Narada could get alot outta tevin (VOCALLY).

Hey, iam camp too but come on. I just re-read the thank yous on tevins first album. Narada says "p.s. baby, u can drive my car- you heartbreaker you!" Hmmmmm Sure narada is playing (as tevin was proberly not legal yet in US), but that is a very camp thing to say.

Huh? WTF? A) I didn't know he wrote that. And B) I always saw him with lovely ladies. I thought he was married. I mean yeah he does look VERY enlightened. I just thought that Sri guy had everybody like that. L. Ron Hubbard must have been pissed off to lose that "entertainer money" Narada and Walter A had a dispute because on Mariah's stuff Walter would do all the tracking and mixing. Narada would come in from a "religious retreat" listen to it and say "I'm such a genius." and claim credit for it. Oh well.

He's not gay. Quite the opposite in fact. Narada's 1976 composition, First Love, is actually about an affair he had as a teenager with a woman who wasn't getting along with her husband. Narada said that that woman was actually his first love... anyway, he's in his second marriage now.... But Yeah, his perpetual smile has more to do with being one of those Sri Chinmoy disciples....Santana used to give off that look when he was with that Group....McLaughlin, too.... ... I saw a picture of him with a beautiful exotic looking lady whom the article said was his wife.
I figured he lived on a gold cloud with beautiful women feeding him grapes. All that aside, he's made some great music as a player, writer and producer.

Have you ever checked out the CD McLaughlin and Santana did called " Love Devotion Surrender"? They are dressed like tennis players in a Annie Hall cult. Crank it up and check it out. You neighbors might not understand but they go off into guitarland. I like to hear "A Love Divine"

Carlos must have thought so too.The original album cover (from 1974) included the photo of Sri Chinmoy with his arms wrapped around Carlos and John. However, this photo is nowhere to be found on the remastered CD that was released a few years ago.

I blame him for ruining Angela Bofill's music. Her first 2 albums produced by Dave Grusin were GREAT! Then Narada produced the next, veering away from the jazz influence and her music never again reached those lofty heights.
