dan hartman "relight my fire"

I just randomly found the 12". Its pretty awesome. With a looooong intro that is pretty cool.

I ain't into disco, but I can dig a few tracks and this is one of them. Even if the song sounds like a big gay anthem lol

"Vertigo/Relight My Fire" was Dan Hartman's gift to club-goers who'd made a home demo, "Instant Replay," into a million-seller the year before. But by the time Hartman's next album was complete, the all-disco radio phenomenon of 1978-79 had already peaked; disco was pronounced dead so often, we all wondered if we'd actually disappear or something. Hartman and his manager, Blue Sky label owner Steve Paul, already knew that this record would get no radio airplay, and consequently sell no albums. Hartman released it anyway.

Hartman was not a fussy rhythm arranger, but mix consultant John Luongo said that the quest for a kick-drum sound as tough as Ashford & Simpson's "Found A Cure" led them to create the Spectorish wall of sound that the song became, finishing up in a gust of strings scored by Loleatta Holloway's frequent producer, the brilliant guitarist/arranger Norman Harris. If there is a dance equivalent of "River Deep-Mountain High" or "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", this is it. It was always a landmark, but with Dan's untimely passing in 1994, it's more than ever a monument to his memory and his lifelong affection for club music.

Hey! Loleatta Holloway sang on this track.

Dan Hartman wrote and produced her Salsoul classic "Love Sensation".

I like quite alot of dans synthed up work. And "relight my fire" too.

I've done appreciation threads on him before.

His 80's stuff seems very obscure. Stuff like "fletch (get outta town)" "we are the young" "i can dream about you".

He also did good work on holly johnsons "blast" album.

"I Can Dream About You" was awesome, one of my early 80's favorite. Dan was taken too soon.
