80s rock classic of the day: "Hurts So Good" by John Cougar (1982)

In the summer of 1982,this song was HOT! The video was in heavy rotation on MTV,back when they actually used to show music videos, lol. It was the first single from John's 'American Fool' album, which also featured the popular single "Jack and Diane".In latter years,John added "Mellencamp" to his name, and his music became more introspective and serious. But in 1982,he was all about having a good time, and "Hurts So Good" remains one of his most enjoyable hit singles.

Hurts So Good
written by John Cougar Mellencamp/G.M Green

When I was a young boy
said put away those young boy ways
Now that I'm gettin' older,so much older
I long for those young boy days
with a girl like you
with a girl like you
Lord knows there are things we can do,baby
just me and you
come on and make it

(chorus)
Hurts So Good
come on baby, make it hurts so good
sometimes love don't feel like it should
you make it hurt so good

Don't have to be so exciting
just trying to give myself a little bit of fun, yeah
you always look so invitin'
you ain't as green as you are young
Hey baby,it's you
come on girl,now it's you
sink your teeth right through my bones baby
let's see what we can do
come on and make it

(chorus)
Hurts So Good
come on baby, make it hurt so good
sometimes love don't feel like it should
you make it hurt so good

I ain't talkin' no big deals
I ain't made no plans myself
I ain't talkin' no high heels
maybe we could walk around all day long
walk around all day long

repeat chorus twice

hehe, yes I liked that smile American Fool is the only album from JC I have, I didn't care to much for his later stuff though
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I remember this girl that sat next to me in class was singing this song, but she altered the lyrics slighty...

"maybe we could fuck around, all day long
fuck around...all day long"

lol
