OLDIES! Kay Starr! Dinah Shore! Who's with me?
I don't have much of these two ladies; just two retrospectives double albums, but I love them SO much... I play them often. I have Kay Starr's A Rising Star, with lovely 40's and 50's tunes... My fave of this collection is probably All of Me, one that I always sing along loudly to... my enighbours frown at me when I pass them in the street... LOL And the same kind of collection from Dina Shore called A Portrait Of... My fave is Shoo Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy [1946], which is just so much fun! Has anyone got a few of these kind of singers to recommend to me?

I'm totally with you! I'm a huge Bing Crosby fan and none of my friends get it. And I don't mean fan in an ironic, aren't-i-weird kinda way...i really like Bing's music and movies. I love all those older artists.
Heck, my avatar picture's from 1931...

Wow.
THREE responses! I thought I would have to bump me own thread.... I have some Bing and some Rosemary already. I never thought of Lena Horne though. I thought she was an actress... Jo Stafford and Julie London just register in a "I heard their names once or twice before"-way. Thanks for the tips!

Primarily a singer. Ms Horne was a Cotton Club performer in the 30s. Probably best known for the tune Stormy Weather. A few more...
