Chaos and Creation- Macca's darker Album? plus billboards review of the single "Fine Line"! well, It very well could be. Amazon.com descibes the new album as considered to be darker than the usual McCartney pop/rock tunes."
Fine Line is the first single from Chaos.. and I wouldnt say the song is dark, but it has the darker tone with the striking piano keys in the distance.. it gives you a dark feeling, but I wouldnt call the song dark. As for the rest of the album, I'm not sure.. The other track i've heard is Follow Me.. and its not dark at all. But from the reviews I've seen, they talk like Riding To Vanity Fair take on more dark moments than the rest of the album. Dunno, a darkish macca album would be kickass if you ask me Anyone seen the artwork for the Fine Line single? It may just be me.. but it reminds me of the beck artwork from guero.. or something that would have fit nicely in the special edition booklet.. its a pencil sketch lookin picture of a hand and a line above it.. very simply but odd ===== Billboard review of Fine Line As Paul McCartney preps for his latest solo album, "Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard," first single "Fine Line" implies he might have a pleasant surprise in store. Nigel Godrich's Rubenesque sonic touches are well-suited for this slice of piano-fueled classic rock: Chords reverberate, cellos glow, and crisp violins are deployed for a jolt of energy. There are a couple of fortune cookie-worthy lyrical turns, but there is also definite vitality here, and the last minute strikes a satisfying tension between minor chord changes and McCartney's falsetto. "Fine Line" is above par for McCartney's solo work, and will be fine entertainment for nostalgic baby boomers. —Jordan Heller Weissman [Edited 8/15/05 20:01pm]

- Promise To You Girl ("rather fast, piano-driven tracks, classic McCartney")
- Riding To Vanity Fair ("darker, more thoughtful tunes") - Jenny Wren (Paul: "Daughter of "Blackbird"") In the press statement the album is described as "harmonically echoing McCartney's early solo albums as well as late Beatles". Let's wait and see...

So far from about.. say 5 reviews.. this isnt your ordinary McCartney album.
Most of the tracks are very deep, in terms of not his traditional chord changing songs.. the tracks have simplicity, but most are saying the depth in these songs reflect his beatles music. Everyone who's heard it is flippin the fuck out by the way. So i'm exicited

Also, McCartney himself is saying this is his best solo material. And I dont believe i've ever heard him say a comment like that toward his solo material, regardless of which album it may have been.
So damn.. more anticipation

That's good to see Mac push himself. The last CD I enjoyed was "Tug Of War"
In today's computer age it's also great to hear guys like Mac, Prince and Todd play all of the instruments.
