The Yellowjackets -- Like a River Jamming along to this gem with my bass (the fretless variety, for those of you keeping score at home). I can't believe how well this stands up af- ter all these years. Great compositions, excellent per- formances. Any other fans of this band on the site?

I know them from their 1st album...
...which stays in my car. The lineup at that time was: Russell Ferrante - keys Jimmy Haslip - bass (and brother in the left-handed upside down club) Ricky Lawson - drums Robben Ford - guitar Really good tunes. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Robben Ford played guitar with them. Have you heard the keyboard improvisation on their song Goin' Home? Gorgeous

Great comments.
I'm going to have to check out their disc- ography. Got their live CD that featured Take 6, as well as the follow- up to River, which featured Bobby McFerrin. Outstanding! Robben Ford is a real beast!

Yellowjackets Fan over here!!
Over the years, these have been my favorites: Dreamland is my absolute favorite, with Bobby Mcferrin, as you mentioned. The same year this came out, The Yellowjackets were also his backing band and collaborators on his album, Bang, Zoom!: and of course there's the album that started it all, Robben Ford's 1979 album, The Inside Story: according to Yellowjackets Keyboardist Russell Ferrante, this album really signaled the birth of the group, although Robben Ford left to continue his solo career after their second album... ... Almost every
month, I pop in a Hendrix tribute disc on which Ford guested, just to hear his blistering so- los from the cover of "Rain- y Day, Dream Away." Fluid, melodic runs. Textbook.
