LOS ANGELES (August 12) - Compton rapper the Game will make his acting debut in the urban action thriller "Waist Deep," written and directed by Vondie Curtis Hall ("Glitter").

Tyrese Gibson ("Four Brothers") plays an ex-con, O2, who is trying to go straight for the sake of his young son Junior but is forced to go back outside the law when Junior is kidnapped in a carjacking. The Game will play a vicious criminal leader.

Meagan Good ("The Cookout") will play a street-smart hustler, and Larenz Tate ("Crash") will be featured as O2's shady cousin.

The Game, a.k.a. Jayceon Taylor, debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. pop charts in January with his major-label debut album "The Documentary." It has sold 2.2 million copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Waist Deep," in production in Los Angeles, is from Rogue Pictures, the nascent genre arm of Focus Features, the arthouse wing of Universal Pictures.

i never thought i'd say this, but the game and 50 cent really make me appreciate the subtle, nuanced theatrical careers of ice cube and queen latifah.

wacky gosh that guy Vondie Curtis-Hall a.k.a. the african guy at the bathroom in "Coming to America" is the worst director ever anyway. I've seen most of his stuff and it's okay, but i laughed at most of the movies and i don't think they were suppose to be comedies....

funny how if the Game and 50 cent hate each other so much that they do the EXACT same things each one does. Probably more so the Game coping 50 cent, doesn't matter its all garbage to me.

I mean look at the role, do you really think that role is challenging enough for The Game to play?

Next thing you know they will both be competing with how many awards one has won, how many cars one has, how many houses one owns, how many movies one has played, how many albums they can put out in a year, to how many children one can have...

They are pathetic.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

i think it's important to keep talented young unknown actors struggling and out of decent work, because we really don't have enough stilted, untrained, mumbling non-actors littering up our overpriced cinemas these days as it is.

Here we go again.Another rapper sells a few million copies of his debut album, and suddenly he's a "movie star" too. There was a time when people actually had to work their way up the ladder.Prince didn't make his first movie until he was five albums into his career.Nowadays, you only need one hit song before Hollywood comes calling.Samuel Jackson was right.
