Tina Turner's rendition of "Whole Lotta Love" ...is the SHIT!
Love it! And the whole "Acid Queen" record in general. It's too bad more people don't know of that records as one of her creative peaks. It's all covers, but she puts every original vocalist to shame on that one. Wish it had been more represented on her final tour. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I think I remember hearing her say that Ike made her sing that song on stage and use the microphone as a phallus or something. That part really sucks...But I cant help but to love the way she sings it. Tina can make any song hers....just listen to 'Addicted To Love', 'Let's Pretend We're Married'...or hell...PROUD MARY peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I just think it's ironic that one of her most stunning vocal performances is on a song she hated singing. "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

i gotta hear this version! my favorite version of this song by far...even moreso than prince's live version (which i really don't mind at all)...is the version by an obscure little art-punk band called tragic mulatto, which has to be heard to be believed.

I still haven't bothered to hear Prince doing Zeppelin, I think I'm ok not knowing. But Tina's version, I just discovered actually, when I got DJ Z-Trip "Live In LA" on cd, he mixes between the Zeppelin version and Tina's, and it's astounding. I love it. She manages to make it even more dirty and funky than plant & Page. and this is coming from a "to the grave" die hard Zeppelin fan. Much respect to Tina Turner. Just another song that was made for her. You can hear it in the original, he's trying to sound like her, ok maybe not, but ive never hear this version by Tina, yet I can hear it perfectly in my heaad.
She's torn up some songs in her career and made them her own. Ive been Loving You is spine chillingly good. Tina probably wont ever have enough distance from this period of her life, to be able to appreciate her version for what it is, one of the all time great vocal performances.
