I went to a Mint Condition concert..

And they absolutely blew my mind!!! I've always liked Mint Condition and I knew that they were a good band, but damn they were the shit last night!!! Stokely sang his ass off!! I never knew he was that damn talented. They make me wanna go out and buy every albumm that they have. I had to put "Livin' the Luxury Brown" back in my car because I think I underestimated it the first time I listened to it. Whew, they are the epitome of what a true R&B act is at this moment in time!!! I'm gonna check out where they are going to be next....
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I've been singing the praises of Mint for YEARS on here. The are the most underrated R&B act that was signed to a major that I can think of. Real musicians playing real music and the get almost no love; especially around here. That's why I believe most orgers are faking the funk. evillol

Well you are gonna be disappointed in me because i'm not familiar with most of their songs, just the ones that got a lot of radio play and the ones on the "Life's Aquarium" cd because that and "Livin' the Luxury Brown" cd's are the only ones I have from them. But i do remember them singing:

What kind of man would I be
If you love me
You don't have to hurt no more
Someone to Love
Send Me Swingin'

and of course

Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)
Stokely tore it up on this song. They stopped right before he hits that note in the middle of the song and then he belted out... "QUIT BREAKIN' MY HEART"!!! Whew child, I went crazy!!!

Looked like he has been in the gym a lot lately too, was looking sort of sexy. He isn't scrawny anymore like Rafael Saadiq use to be.

It came with their latest CD. It's a great concert and the crowd is really into 'em. Gotta give 'em their props.

Well, "Swingin" and "Pretty Brown Eyes" are 2 of my favorite ballads, and "Living The Luxury Brown" is pretty doggone good. Supporting actual R&B musicians should indeed be a priority for us.

why when i went to the concert i was just finding out that they were from prince's homespot?!? That explains why they reminded me of a modern day "The Time" without the suits and stylized dance moves, but just pure R&B, live music and soul.... biggrin

This is what record companies should promote.

If they were to promote Mint, Lo Key, Toni Tony Tone (If they were together) it might encourage people to play instruments and explore their artistry.

Thanks for the info on the DVD.

It would be great if they toured with The Time.

Not for competitive purposes but to get people excited about live music.

If Jesse would join the bill with his band playing the "Naked Soul" music and rocked out versions of his earlier music that would be great.

And all three bands have a jam session at the the end of each gig.

That's probably too much wishful thinking for one day.

A full live CD and DVD combo were supposed to be released in July as well, last month on their site it looked like they pushed the date to 10-25-05. Now I don't see it at all. sad I hope they are still planning to release it.
