I've only got Jackie's self-titled first solo album on vinyl. It's mostly just covers.

I remember checking amazon and ebay and could not find his "be the one" album. It sounds like "2300 jackson street" really. Its pop funk mainly, as opposed to newjack.

U heard the 2 b-sides to "2300 jackson street" single? "when I look at you", sung by jackie is an awesome lil' funky song. As is "keep her".

No, I haven't. To be honest 'Art Of Madness' is the only one I listen to from that album.

I was just looking for one of Jermaine's albums... the one where he's in the red car with the girl who has a bow in her hair. I think on the back they are sitting on the front porch steps of a house. Can't thinkf of what it's called but I liked that album. Looks like most of his albums aren't even on Amazon anymore.

Thats odd as I remember people on ehre saying they hated that track. I love it. Its surprising Michael Omaritan produced it (he did of all things peter cetras "next time I fall in love" song, aswell as working on some good jermaine songs)

The lyrics are crazy. Listen to those verses. They crack me up. Good harmonies on that track.

"she" off that album is awesome. One of my fav tracks of all time. Newjack with a go-go influence. Randy sounds great. The bridge is great "yeah shes fine". Love it.

She coulda/shoulda been a single. Overall I wasn't crazy about the album. Felt like it wasn't an 100% effort. I actually forget to include it when I think of their discography.

According to Jermaine's ex, who he was with at the time, he and Jackie would keep re-recording the lead vocals to songs and submitting their new ones behind one another's backs.

I would kill for a "she" 12". It woulda stormed the rnb charts, as newjack was huge then. Thats the closest they got to newjack. Aswell as parts of jackies album and randys vocoder featured "love you honey", which was a single apparantly, Iam lucky that the jacksons did some funky shit in the late 80's With jermaine finially catching up with "you said you said" album. Which is mature but has some good cuts on it.

"oooh i love u honey, love u honey, oh baby thats true". Gotta dig out that album.

It's called "Let Me Tickle Your Fancy", IMO, one of his best albums. unfortunately it was never released on CD, at least not in the US...

but after Jermaine, I'd say Randy, definitely. I loved the "Randy and The Gypsys" album, as well as songs like "One More Chance", "Give It Up", and "Time Waits For No One"...

Haven' t heard any of the Jackson brothers on solo, except some Jermaine songs, so it' s hard to tell.

I wonder if many people do that? To be honest, I had to find my album cover to spell it correctly too.

Jesus, who'd spend $60 on it? neutral Its good, but not quite that good lol

With all the other stuff that came up during my search I'd think that the album would be in the mix somewhere but not even close. I'd wind up with Randy Crawford and while she's not bad I really don't want Randy Jackson from American Idol.

That radny jackson is on tons of 80's and 90's records as a session bassist. I use to think it was the Mieks brother playing bass on a richard marx album. But I grew to find that theory was far fetched.

I like the cover to that album.

Who the hell are they? For a jacksons related cover, it is very different lol Randy always stood out from the others, partucally from jackie, jermaine and marlon, who all did pretty samey solo work.

Shame no other album came from it. If u like chukki booker, u'll like this. Its industrial funk. "i cant wait" is gorgeous too.

I luckily never had the trouble of trying to spell it correctly in order to buy it online lol A charity chop of all places had it. I was like "is that randy as in randy from the jacksons?" Sorta like what eddie murphy says in the car in "trading places". Anyone remember that bit? lol

I just loathe Randy from AI because he always says 'dawg' and he's from American Idol.

I regret never picking up Randy and the Gypsys when it was out especially since he was my favorite of the brothers for quite awhile.

I wonder if anyone thinks he or Jermaine is more talented than Michael? Put MJs dancing skills aside...

The song's Randy co-wrote..I think it is safe to say that Michael did the majority of the writing so "co-writing" isn't probably as big of an accomplishment as some people would like to make it.

That being said..I think Randy is probably the most talented brother because he introduced Michael to T-Mez who defended Michael at his trial. Had Michael had a bum for a lawyer..sneaky sneddon might have been able to get a conviction out of his crappy sad lying sake of a case.

Same brother..different reasons why! biggrin

It's not safe to say, if you listen to the material that Randy has written and produced(and played) on his own, particularly his solo album...there's a consistency to it, enough to say that he did his share of the co-writing...If You look at "One More Chance", writen by Randy himself, "Time Waits For No One", written by Randy Jackson and Jackie Jackson, and "Give It Up", written by Michael Jackson and Randy Jackson...in some of their most melodic material, Randy is the common denominator...

btw, Billboard magazine raved about the Randy and the Gypsys album when it was released, but also noted (correctly), that it would probably be ignored in all the attention shining on Janet and Michael at the time...it does have a few New Jack-isms which don't date that well, but there's no denying the soulful songwriting, especially on tunes like "The Love We Almost Had", "I Can't Wait", "Not Because Of Me" and "Need You", all comparable to Jacksons tracks like "One More Chance" and "Give It Up"...

All those songs you mentioned are my favorites. Actually most of my favorite Jackson songs that Randy wrote or co-wrote. I think in general I just like his style and the way he jams and thought that his solo album was going to be the beginning of something more. He could probably have the most longevity after Jermaine.

I have three words for you. The Ultimate Collection!
Check out Michael's "The Ultimate Collection" Box Set. You can hear the Shake A Body demo and it shows just how much of the writing Michael did. I think it is a safe bet that Michael did most of that song and other songs also. Did you know that Michael Jackson wrote probably about 75% of We Are The World - lyrics and music? Michael is way too under-rated these days as a song-writer. Some fools even think that Alien Ant Farm wrote Smooth Criminal!! WTF??
Now don't deny Michael is credits.

What? Randy was the one who wrote the music to 'Shake Your Body'. Michael did the lyric I think, but Randy came up with the piano hook.

You're right about We Are The World though, Michael's part on that was a lot more than Lionel Richie. Shame the song is so terrible.
