If you include remixes instead of album versions she's right You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

Which wasn't a big radio hit for her in the U.S. if they release the song to itunes it would help on the charts, but Madonna doesn't release music digitally right?
"Hung Up" will be available via download from apple's iTunes Music Store a week before it is sold in retail outlets. The full album will be released at the Apple iTunes Music Store a day in advance of retail stores with a bonus song that will not be included on the regular CD. So I get buy this bitch twice? Damn, that's cold, Madddy! Can someone please tell me where you are hearing these samples...orgnote me or something.

Madonna's entire catalog (well, what looks like all of her full CDs at least) are on Intunes right now. I know that one of the few Madonna things that was there was "Who's That Girl" the soundtrack. And some of it's songs are still in the top (including "Me Against The Music", since Britney was on there) but I think this is because people don't realize this news yet. If you own everything Madonna, not very exicitng....but still kind of exciting. Let the media blitz begin!

Make sure you use Internet Explorer cause crap like Firefox won't play it! I'm hearing it. Not reinventing the wheel, but Euro dance pop sounds so good coming out of Madonna, doesn't it? I do see the a photo of the ad with Madonna and lots of current music stars (Iggy Pop is there....not bad company!). Go there now! The sample (of the song and of Abba) is good. It works. It will either flop so hard it makes "American Life" look like her last big hit or became at least a Top ten hit. I don't see it just doing OK and charting in the Top 40. [Edited 9/7/05 14:45pm]

Can I post the link here? sorry...but no... Okay. I have to admit the sound clip is funny. It samples that irritating flute melody of Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme. But I think it just sounds VERY Goldfrapp-ish. But that is just cuz it is just a soundbite. Not representive of the song OR the album. ~runs to player and plays Goldfrapp's Yes Sir, I Can Boogie~

that snippet certainly is one of the gayest things ive heard in a long time. I cant decide if i like it or not. Its very very catchy, particularly with the nagging Abba sample, and i can see it being a massive club hit, but i cant decide whether it will be a cross over or not. It will no doubt be a hit in Europe, not sure about the US, but i understand why people are concerned about the sound. Its a bit like hearing the remix before the original (and i dont normally like most of madonnas remixes), but i have faith.

Since most of this song has already leaked, what's Warners waiting for? They should go ahead and rush-release this song to radio.

it'll work for the same reason Music worked. something totally unlike anything else on the radio You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

I was expecting something a little more different, but it sounds very similar to alot of pop/dance music. Im not saying its not good, i think ill probably end up loving it, but from what ive heard, it doesnt have that distinctiveness you normally associate with lead off madonna singles. That said, i think the Abba sample was a great idea.

Just heard the sample of "Hung Up", as well as seeing the Motorolla commercial earlier. I like it. Of course, I need to hear the whole song, but from what I've heard, not bad. Someone on the board said it sounded similar to Gwen's "Whacha Waiting for?". I guess I can see that.
Overall, it's kind of a cross between 70s Disco and 80s Dance music. It's probably the most dance oriented song Madonna has put out since "Music", only difference being that while "Music" sounded kind of progressive and futuristic, "Hung Up" is definitely very old school sounding. It's going to be a big club hit, no questions asked. Anything Madge farts out will find it's way to the clubs. As far as being a mainstream hit, it has a chance. With the right promotion, you could be looking at another Madonna hit. The situation with Madonna reminds me of when Cher's "Believe" became a massive hit. Who would have thought? If Cher, whom prior to "Believe" wasn't exactly raking in the hits, could make a comeback, Madonna has it made lock stock and barrell, especially since the sample sounds better than 85% of the kinda-underrated American Life. I mean, so American Life flopped. Every artist has that one album that didn't do too well. And that was her only album that didnt go platinum. You shouldnt rule her out completely, especially with the glowing reviews she received for her Live 8 performance I for one am excited and cant wait for the album to come out.

hmmm. to me, the song sounds too much like a cross between Gwen and Kylie. and ironically, that's not a good thing, considering they're both 2nd and 3rd generation Madonna-wannabe's.
seems like she's chasing what worked for her followers rather than blazing the trail. and while i AM looking forward to a fun, upbeat album, i just hope she's not going to acheive that by aping the vacuous style and attitude of her successors. If Cher, whom prior to "Believe" wasn't exactly raking in the hits, could make a comeback, Madonna has it made lock stock and barrell, actually, that's kind of the difference between them. while Madonna has been the master of staying on top for almost 2 decades, comebacks are Cher's stock-in-trade. she's had about 10 of them. and it takes a very different kind of energy and mindset for those types of things. Madonna's stayed on top by working hard, manipulating the public and her audience, consciously making moves that would keep her in the spotlight or at the top of the charts. Cher, on the other hand, just sort of does her thing, and sort of stumbles ass-backward into a comeback every 10 years. and there's something to be said for that, actually. just going about your business doing what you do and if it becomes huge, then so be it, but it's not really something she seeks out. dunno if Madonna could ever take that sort of career path.
