Live Sly Stone from the Ed Sulivan show

On another topic we were discussing Sly vs Prince. A lot of people seemed to right Sly off. Check out this performance from the Ed Sulivan show. I say if you did not have Sly you would not have Prince.

Too bad a lot of great performances by Black Acts seem next to impossible to locate or view.

I have had this for a while. Also, check Sly out on Dick Cavett Show. In the interview, Sly keeps saying to Dick "Dick, Dick, Dick". Knuckleheads who worship P and discredits P's obvious influences aren't worth debating shit over.
Thanx for the thread, laura. U always come with the funk info and I can dig it.

nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

Don't know why but the link is not working for me. Can someone help me out? I'm definitely interested in checking it out, as I really dig Sly Stone. Sly was bad as hell, like a funky version of the Beatles.

Anxiety

ive got a bunch of sly stone on DVD, including his appearances on dick cavett and mike douglas, and a bunch of midnight special concert footage. every now and then i pop it in and groove to it...the dick cavett footage is the VERY best, complete with larry graham dressed up like black jesus! lol

there's gonna be a dick cavett music DVD coming out soon with sly on it, PLUS some footage of david bowie (and if you look in the background of the bowie performances, you'll see a very young - and a very LARGE - luther vandross singing backup).
