Deee-Lite's "When You Told Me You Loved Me (Did You Mean It)" Appreciation Thread

When you told me you loved me
Did you mean it?
When you told me you loved me
Didn't you mean it?
First you kissed me on the elevator
Then you said you'd see me later
Now I haven't heard from you
And it's obvious we're through
Why'd you have to say
You loved me in that way
And I got that empty feeling
It stays with me each day
It seems to follow me around
While you're on the other side of town

All the lies about the situation
Left me wondering in desperation
Now I know that I've been true
But it's not the same for you
Why'd you have to say
You loved me in that way
Now I haven't heard from you
And my hopes are turning blue
And I got that empty feeling
That stays with me each day
It seems to follow me around
While you're on the other side of town

This should be a whole Dewdrops appreciation thread. I LOVE that album. My only complaint is that I discovered it after Sampledelic Relics...then it was way too late.

Actually my favorite songs on there is

Stay in bed forget the rest (feeling free as grafitti...fall asleep with paradise dreams of tahiti) and

Picnic in the Summertime (come at me like a panther cause you know yes is my answer).

And Bring me your Love (by the time I got to the parking lot I took home more that I bought)

Yup. Last Saturday at 8:30 at the Addison Stage.

I guess I'll just have to live with my memories of getting chummy with DJ Dimitri at Shelter back in the day.

also, when i lived in NYC, i used to see her around the neighborhood in the east village all the time. once, she was on her rollerblades, leading a group of children through astor place (WTF?!?? lol ), and another time she went into a cafe i used to go to all the time and ordered some coffee...i remember freaking out because i was listening to her place her order, and she talks just like she does on record. ("uhhh, gimme a large coffee, wouldja?...BLACK....") she is GLAMOUROOSE. love

Her voice is really a marvel. It's simple yet seductive. Me thinks Towa was REALLY trying to capture singers that sound like her esp on his first album.

No you ain't!
I may be old, but I still have my prized possession from those days:
My limited edition "365 Deee-Liteful Words" black velvet book signed Love Peace and Soul on A Roll by Dimitri.

That little book was the first time I was introduced to the term 'Camel Toe'
Aah, memories sigh

speaking of her voice...I remember the first time I heard it. WHat is Love was HUGE at Medusas...a club I went to all the time. The vocals to that song were really outstanding I thought. Hell THAT song was outstandingly fresh and bass heavy. I was hooked.
