It's been all about The Distillers for me lately.

i can't help it, they're just so loud and fun and big and stupid and sloppy and obnoxious.

yet at the same time, they manage to crank out some melodies that i can NOT get out of my head. (take THAT, kylie!)

i've been playing their last two albums on shuffle on my mp3 player lately, and having a blast. great gym music, too.

i will admit it, i am a hopeless fan of the australian courtney love. anyone else dig these crazy kids?

She made the synths sound like a spector record for the late 80's. cool

that's the same pic that was used on their Alternative Press cover story
i've got a vinyl 45 by them, and have heard most of their songs
not bad at all, if you dig that style of music
but i tend to go more for the "pop" sound of groups like Damone guitar

i like the distillers because they're one of the very FEW recent punk bands that don't have that annoying, nasally "mall-punk" sound and that aren't just a bunch of milquetoast pop musicians masquerading as a "dangerous" punk band.

the distillers are loud and ugly sounding. i bet they smell bad. i love that. if you're gonna be something, then god damn it, BE IT.

there's a definite LA punk sound to their music, and there's some ramones and early hole-era courtney love going on, too. and like i said, about 99% of their music is insanely melodic and catchy.

brody dalle makes me want to jump on my bed, what can i say?

you definitely got a point there
and that's what makes the Distillers one of the best "bands" out there!
no matter if it's a bit too straight-crazy-ugly for my tastes
...in an early Guns N Roses / Motley Crue (but "true" punk) kinda way

i realize it's not for everyone, but at least it sounds genuine and gutsy...and there aren't a lot of new bands coming out these days that are willing to be either of those things. i'm waiting for them to go all glam/hollywood any day, though - brody just has too much star presence.
