The music world is f*cked up nowadays!!

I am 15 years old, and i appreciate REAL music by REAL musicians... no computerised cartoon shit!

-The charts nowadays are clogged up with bullshit novelty records!!... off T.V adverst etc...

-Most of the kids that like RnB don't even know what it stands for!! eek

-I talk to kids my age about Prince and they either say... "who the fuck is he?" or... "is he that gay fag?"

i'm pissed off...

There is your problem.. too caught up in what charts show.. who cares man? Music is as good as it always has been. Its just much harder to find these days. finding good music isnt as easy as cutting your fm radio on anymore..

I agree with you glove. I am a little older then you (18) an the mainstream music scene is not good at all. The artist that are making the good music are barely denting the charts. All I do is listen to music from the past.

I get the same reaction about Prince at my school a you. "Prince is gay" or "He is a little weird man" are a lot of responses I get. O did however convert a couple of people into Prince fans. Basically my whole Chemistry class from mu junior year like Prince because of me.

I felt just like you at 15. When I was 17, I found this site, and it's helped a lot with the frustration since I can always count on other orgers to recommend real artists for me.

I think the music today is aiight. The top ten is kinda getting better, but I am still stuck in Electro and R&B 80's funk...nothing will ever be as good as the music sounds of 1979 -(1983-1987 especially headbang)- 1990

So you are 15 and hate today's music. I'm glad to hear it because you are yet another young person on this site that shares that opinion. I'm 37 and this gives me hope that there might be a slim possibility of hope for the future of music. Unfortunately there are not enough people your age that feel the same way you do.

Wrap your head around this,
To some people, current music pales in comparsion to past music ( for the sake of our environment we'll use prince as the past music).
Now to some people, music in the charts gets them to move and/or makes them happy. Instead of writing these people off as listeners of f*cked up music... u should listen to it with the intentions of figuring out why they like the music. The beats, lyrics, or new style of music all have to be understood so that you can see what the world of music lacking or needs improvment on. Then, try creatign something that the people havent heard b4 or incorporate some old with the new in hopes accomplishing something different.
In the end, as long as the music makes people happy or dance then the world of music is doing its job. The world is big enough for different tastes to exist. Don't kid yourself into thinking you are an enlightened music listener among a sea of uneducated.. You'd be suprised what they can show you about thei rmusical tastes.

i totally agree with you. for example, i'm not really into most of whats out right now. and to ME i think some of its shit. but i aint gonna try to impose that belief onto someone else. i'm also not gonna write someone off just cuz they say prince is a fag, or they think {insert song here) is shit, therefore all his stuff is shit. Hell i do the same thing, i've never heard a full 50cent record or a full ying yang twins record, but judgin from what i have heard i can say i don't like it and probly wouldnt like none of their other stuff neither. i think the same can go for people who aint into prince or whoever. whatever moves u moves u. everybodies not gonna like everything. its aight, thats how things is supposed to be

i wasn't trying to be funny. i just think it's ironic that Prince fans bitch and moan about computerized music when it was Prince who damn near made the drum machine and the synth S.O.P. in pop music for the last 20 years.

It's very easy to be a Prince fan and bitch about today's computerized music. The computerized part is the only thing the two have in common. Prince's drum machines beat much harder than these week "tappers" they are using today and Prince sure as hell wasn't stuck in midtempo like they are. Prince also had handclaps and today's music doesn't. Today's artists have taken out every thing that would remotely make a song have rhythm.

if you want to complain about the QUALITY of music, then by all means, do so all you wish. but complaining about the computerization of it, while being a Prince fan is hypocritical. and its laughable that you think adding hand claps to today's music is going to make it better. and i think you're quite incorrect when you say "today's artsits have taken out every thing that would remotely make a song have rhythm." from where i'm standing it seems like that's ALL they've left in. songwriting these days is very weak. as is singing talent. as well as the use of melody. the rhythm is pretty much all there is.

There's no rhythm whatsoever. The drums barely tap and they never get faster than midtempo, there's no handclaps to accent it, and there's no decent bass line to keep it going. There's absolutely nothing to make you wanna move. All you can do is just sit there and listen without so much as a tap of the foot.

As far as lyrics go, that's the only thing they are contributing. When I ask kids today "How the hell can you like that shit", they say "listen to what they are saying...listen to the words". Fuck what the words are saying, give me something that makes my ass want to shake. This shit's too damn slow.
