I'm in a really fussy mood and I'm tired of these lists. I want her to play my list, my list, my list. I'm also feeling cranky because everytime I listen to the mp3's she plays everything double slow and drawn out. I think that's why I felt a little bland after the last show -- everything was done in the same slow tempo. That's cool for a little bit, but the songs are great when they have a beat to them, the melodies flow better, etc. Anyone else notice this?

ever. fer real. Honestly, I'm still tripping over this set. She really needs to release it as one of the 6 live albums. Here was a really good review of the show from over at the dent. Sounds like one of her best ever shows. From Matt Page: Matt was extremely excited about this show when he phoned his review in to me. He said it was an amazing, amazing show, and almost definitely his favorite from the Summer Of SIn tour. Tori sounded fantastic, and the show had many debuts. Matt was emphatic that this show needs to be officially released by Tori as one of the bootlegs from the current tour. Tori told the crowd that she was glad to be there spending her last day of being 41 years old. (Tori's 42nd birthday is on August 22, 2005!) She said that the majority of the show tonight would be all requests, and to not take it personally if she does not get to your request. Pancake was a debut tonight. Tori played the majority of it on the Hammond Organ. Tori's cover of Total Eclipse Of The Heart was one of the best covers Tori has ever performed. This song was suggested to her by someone a few shows ago, and she pulled off a brilliant cover of it! The Rolling Stones were actually in Boston that evening on their tour, and so Tori performed Angie in honor of that. Tori ended Barons Of Suburbia really belting out the lyrics. She was the most ferocious on this song that Matt has ever seen. Tori performed a very different version of The Beekeeper tonight. She kept repeating one phrase over and over at the end (I think it was something like, "I know you want my queen") and she mentioned the patriarchy in the song. Her performance of this was *very* different. The first song of the first encore was Dream On by Aerosmith, and Tori talked about how the lead singer from that band protected her daughter during a blackout that took place around Detroit back in 2002. Garlands was another brilliant debut, and was quite long. Tori varied some from her written pre-show set list. She was supposed to play Spark after Tear In Your Hand, but Tori skipped it and went straight to The Beekeeper. This was likely done because an 11:00PM curfew and the fact that some of her other songs were so long, including Garlands and her version of Tear In Your Hand. Also, Tori's second encore was supposed to be Virginia, Way Down and Hey Jupiter, but decided to do Playboy Mommy and 1000 Oceans instead. Again, this was an amazing show, and caps off a week of great performances. This show definitely should be released as an official bootleg, and hopefully others will encourage Tori's management to do just that! This show will be one of the best of the current tour.

I've been waiting for this one to show up. It's one of my favorites. Don't know if I'd like it so much without the bass though. And to hear Playboy Mommy at the end. The SF show is on September 11. I wonder if it will have any extra punch or significance? Knowing her, probably so. Hoping we get one of those really special shows.

I guess so. Both were in town for their tours during the blackout of 2003.

I saw her back to back nights back in April and again for this leg of the tour. Both times, the shows only shared 3 songs in common, and 2 of those are what she opens and closes her set with every night. She's gotta have near 200 songs rehearsed for this tour!

Both shows were STUNNING although completely different. Toronto show was INTENSE ~ she seemed tranced and driven. Blood Roses was fabulously disturbing, Both Sides Now (strangely predicted by Gangsta) had us both sobbing. At the end, while doing Beekeeper, she was transcended to a higher place and wow did she take all of us with her. The wind was blowing her hair and her aura was just glowing. Then she came out and did Putting The Damage On(incredible) and we were done! Every one around us was crying, Our seats couldn't have been better (sassy and gangsta can expound) and it was my favorite Tori show of the four times seeing her. Detroit was amazing as well but with a woodsy, quieter vibe, She went flawlessly from song to song like she was on a mission ~ China~ just exquisite, God, Pretty Good Year, the Karma Police cover was outstanding, it just kept getting better and better. I was kiddnig with gangsta that she found out Bjork is my favorite artist and she's trying to push her out of the way. A funny note: one of the most hilarious quotes of the night was during the Ditty Bops performance. We were trying to describe the style when Sassy hit on it perfectly ~ he said they are what you get when Blue grass meets Tim Burton ~ anyone's who's seen them will know exactly what he means! Amazing back to back concerts with great friends ~ what a perfect end to August! Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

was i dreaming? did last night really happen? somehow i'm here in my apartment in chicago but i have these wonderful memories of toronto, gangsta, moonsongs, moonbeam, tori amos, and a hard cock in the 2nd row of a show! the past two nights were amazing! sunday, for me, was the payoff though. every song was perfect. tori was quirky as usual (singing the old commercial "some times you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't"). she seemed so intent on delivering those songs into your lap. they were so thick you could taste them and then scrape them off the back of your mouth! i don't know that i can pick a highlight from detroit's show...it was all brilliant! toronto delivered a one two punch at the end with putting the damage on and baker baker as the closing songs. its like she knows when its time to leave, she knows when she's done her job. seeing the montreal setlist, i'd be hard pressed to not think this was the best weekend of the tour. 3 shows in a row with phenomenal setlists and at least two fasninating performances. yep. the staff at meadow brook music festival in rochester hills had a long night mopping up row h, right around seats 130 and 131
