I'm taking it very slow. that's my second least favorite of the reissues so far, which is not to say that i dislike it, and it's also not to say that i'm in any kind of majority. they're all good, but "faith" and "pornography" are the stars of the show so far, where i'm concerned. I really wanted to run out and buy 'Pornography' first, but being the obsessive-compulsive person that I am, I'm going to listen to the reissues chronologically like how they were originally released.

I'm getting those things on the very first day--no pussyfootin' around like I'm doing with the Cure discs.

I'll probably be just the opposite. I've had to travel to get these Cure ones on the first day. I'm not one for waiting. Siouxsie though, I'm just very casually getting into.

At least with the Cure, I had all their albums on CD before the reissues, but with the Banshees I never did have their pre-1983 LPs on disc. I bought them all on vinyl before Geffen released them on CD, but never purcashed those and stuck with the records. It will be odd to not have to flip the record (or tape) over when I finally hear those reissues.

Am I still saved or stuck in purgatory? that's a hard one to answer. the bonus EP is great - it's some of the danciest stuff they've done in quite some time - but the album is really, really, really growing on me with every listen. if your soul is damned, it's not because you have the 1CD of this album.

I can think of many reasons why my soul is damned. My Spice Girls collection would be the first one... Oops did I type that out loud? I hate when that happens.

I'm debating tracking it down... I am not exaggerating when I say that I think Emma's album is absolutely heavenly. It's pure 1960s retro pop. I like listening to it back to back with Sarah Cracknell's solo album to bring the topic back to Saint Etienne. Now if only I could work The Cure into this post also.

What else you into? well, I've been doing some concert prep, so finally giving The Arcade Fire their due. Then I got the new Decemberists (and a ticket to their show) from Denny for my Bday, so that's been going on a lot. Then, the latest St. Etienne, Coldplay, Teenage Fanclub and Gorillaz (still, heehee). A few more spins of Decemberists and then I can move on to New Order and the latest Doves CD. ummmm, and then I can go buy my next Cure reissue and listen to that

ps- I almost forgot, the latest Belle & Sebastian compilation has been gettin daily play in my house... Lots and lots of Stereolab. My summer favorite. That new Garage a Trois album Outre Mer is really yummy, funky jazz. Early Michael Jackson stuff. The box set got me more interested than I've been in years. Kate Bush, Smashing Pumpkins, Cabaret Voltaire, and about to dip my toes into some unfamiliar Miles Davis stuff too. And that's just this week!
