Just saw Pat Benatar live

It was fucking awesome. cool Pat looked great (she had her hair a reddish hue tied up in little pigtails and wore an almost full-body black suit with a sparkling silver necklace-tie) and still possessed the voice of an almighty rock/pop goddess. And Neil Geraldo just ripped on that guitar, especially at the end of "Heartbreaker". eek

It was mostly hit after hit, but damn, those great '80s jams never get old, and the crowd was excited, Pat and Neil's sense of humor during interaction with the audience was delightful (they also gave background on the formation of a couple songs like "Papa's Roses" and "Love Is A Battlefield"), and the staging and lighting were perfect. I enjoyed myself immensely.

Sadly, no. neutral The setlist, with the exception of a couple songs (neither one of them being "Anxiety (Get Nervous)"), was comprised of her biggest hits.

Still a great show, though.

EDIT: The non-singles (as far as I know) that she didn't perform were "Go" from her 2003 album of the same name and "Papa's Roses", as mentioned in my original post.

I love Pat! I agree, these songs never get old.

Can Pat still use her upper range?

I love when she sings the high parts on songs like "Promises In The Dark" and "Invincible" (end part of the song).

Yup! smile She still sounded clear as a whistle in her upper register while performing those songs.

'Promises In The Dark' is my favorite track by her. From the beautiful intro to the rockin' finale...it's just perfection.

Last week CMT re-aired a 2003/4 'Crossroads' episode with Pat and Martina McBride. It was off the hook. Both of them have amazing voices and singing each others songs were great. They did an accoustic verison of 'We Belong' that left me in tears!

Oh, you are so right. Can you imagine someone like Avril Lavigne or Michelle Branch trying to match Pat's vocals?? Heh, not very likely. Pat is incredible.

Wow, I ran a thread on Pat awhile back, and hardly no one posted. Didn't think folks on here dug her. I saw Pat in concert when I was in Jr. High. I had such a major crush on her. Some of my faves by her:

Promises In The Dark
Heartbreaker
Fire and Ice
Treat Me Right
Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Precious Time
Shadows Of The Night
Love Is A Battlefield
We Belong
Hell Is For Children

She and Neil (who smokes on guitar - very underrated imo) are an inspiration. If I can find a hot chick with an awesome voice to compliment my guitar playing (and she also digs me)...

I need to get some air razz

"Hell Is For Children" Is GODLIKE.

My wife & I saw Pat at Pine Knob back in 99 or '00. I've always dug her but she's my wife's IDOL. Went to the show with her and they did pretty much every song I could have hoped for, except Love Is a Battlefield (But Fuck it, I have the 12" single, kicks ass) but the highlight of the show for me was "True Love". Good lord, she kicked some serious tail on that one, Neil must have soloed for 10 minutes at least, serious blues. He even started to go out into the audience and played. Pat seemed like he was showing her up, and quickly pulled in the reigns. I always thought he was a solid guitarist but the blues he played up on that stage that night was AWESOME. They did "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and Pat said she hated that song. I don't blame her. While it's a classic, it's basically her "Cult Of Personality" or "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Great, great show. I'd go see them again without hesitation.
Keep your headphones on.

I feel the same way, Jess. Is homeboy lucky or what? Their daughter is fine as hell too. But yeah, Neil is underrated, always has been. I think it's cuz, during their prime, he didn't have long hair. Didn't really fit the mold of a "rocker". Homeboy looked like he did constuction and shit.

BG, u definitely have great taste - their daughter was FINE!!! Puts Hulk Hogan's daughter to shame. Recently though, I saw her on some famous celebrity kids show on the E Entertainment Channel - it's about these kids competing on a cattle ranch or somethin'. At first I didn't know it was her - she's not as voluptuous as she used to be. Don't they realize we likes 'em with curves!!!
