christina v britney

is this old news? britney was called a has been by christina. supposedly christina made some kind of statement saying that britney has let her image go too far; a comeback is out of the question. there are various articles on the web but they seem to be based on gossip and no real quotes. anybody know anything about this pop tart trying to call out another pop tart?

i like them both equally. yes; christina has the "pipes", but britney is the better overall performer. so the balance eachother out. shrug both have their moments of skank-dom. but i love those skanks! biggrin

So is good music. Oops!

(BTW, Cyndi's only been around for a little over 2 decades as a solo artist, and she was very popular for most of the 80's. She's still around, and At Last made #37 in the US, so I don't know where you got that three decades figure from lol Your ass, maybe?)

funny thing is the thread wasn't intended as an actual org poll of christina or britney. i was trying to get info on the comments christina made about britney. i should have been more clear about that...sorry. shrug

The year 2000 called...they want their thread back.

I'm not sure what the question is. I think Christina proves you can play around but as long as you're willing to evolve musically and have some talent, it's possible to sustain a career. Then again, doing half baked collabos don't excatly help you, though.

Britney proves being a producers pet doesn't make for a consistent single career, but the comeback hit even after the biggest scandal can be possible if the track is hot enough ("Toxic", although I was dissapointed she never released "Breathe On Me").

I'm not sure who wins. At this rate, they've both done great things and both fucked up quite a bit, too. I mean, Christina took her time making a second proper album....but what was with the Christmas CD and Spainglish CD (mostly of remakes of her hits from the first disc) in between...cash in opportunity anyone?

I hope this isn't true--not that I care or that it's of any importance--I just hate when celebrities talk about other celebrities. STFU, basically.

Anywhoo, Christina by a mile.

so we are back to the charts being an indication of someone's talents ehh? you really shouldn't go "there" when your avi indicates an appreciation for eryka badu..expecially since she is appearing in a documentary about artists who deserve to be stars but arent.....

cyndi lauper has had a creative resergence...her charting compared to her previous chartings is a positive and means that she is regaining her audience..there is momentum in her career..

why you feel the need to crap on something positive is beyond me though.....

btw: i love me some ms. badu..but mama's gun flopped.....still doesnt mean thats not her best album to date.

Cyndi is still doing the damn thing and doing it well. It's a shame how she's slept on when she's a better artist and performer than many of these tricks getting coverage today.

Oh... uh.. unless Christina makes a major transition in her life I think as she matures she'll always sorta be to the left of things--that artist that you look at with screw face or crooked eye and wonder WTF? But ultimately, her voice will outweigh all that especially if she takes care of it and chooses/writes good material.

Christina Aguilera has slammed her pop rival Britney Spears - claiming the pregnant star has "let herself go."

The 'Dirrty' singer, 24, says Britney has not tried hard enough to maintain her sexy image and her future singing career is doomed.

Christina sniped: "I can't see a comeback on the cards".

Earlier this year, Christina proved her long-standing rift with Britney had not healed after she refused to invite the 23-year-old to her forthcoming wedding.

The singer, who is planning a romantic winter wedding, reportedly delivered the ultimate snub by leaving Britney off the guest list.
But Christina, who announced her engagement to fiancé Jordan Bratman in February, claimed the only reason she didn't invite Britney was because she wasn't there when the star tied the knot with dancer Kevin Federline last year.

She explained: "There's no way she's getting an invite to my wedding She snubbed me so I'm going to snub her too".

1983-2005 = a little over 2 decades, so I think you need to send your ass back to school. "3 decades ago" would be 1975.

I don't know what your problem is, or why you have a vendetta against the artist in my avatar; why this bullshit even reared its ugly head in this thread is completely beyond me.

my dear,
mama's gun sold over a million,
Bag Lady was a #1 R&B hit
Bag Lady = Top 20 Pop hit

"Love ofMy Life" hit the top 10 pop and R&B

every album is nominated for multiple grammys

comparing her to cyndi is not correct

i wasn't dissing cyndi just pointing out that she's been in the game for a long time and number 37 is hardly a comeback to form of her glory days...
everyone chill
i love cyndi's first album
she's very talented
just like Badu

love4oneanother!

it was all just a response to voice's "that's sooooo last week" joke...

please smoke some herb or take a shot or go to yoga class and dont take sh*t on a message board personally unless it's truly derogartory lol biggrin cool

#37 is very respectable for an artist who's been around as long as she has. It also represents a major comeback from her 90's flops. I don't think many people expect an artist from 1983 to sell 5 million copies of a new album. lol
