like a virgin vs billie jean

inspired by a thread below

i'd like to hear a dj mix them

2 of the greatest singles ever, probably

love madonna's mj impression on the virgin tour

i'm guessing the mj fans will go with billie jean and vice versa

as a fan of both i can't decide.

but i still much prefer madonna

Both classics, but I pick "Billie Jean", simply because I feel it's aged better and isn't quite as irritating as "Like A Virgin".

I DID like early Madonna, but hey... no contest here

Billie Jean by a a mile... or rather a billion miles..
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

The Madonna song is classic to be sure, and I'm a much bigger fan of her, but Billie Jean is the better song.

I never liked Like A Virgin and I think it's one of Madonna's worst songs. Billie Jean still sounds good.

Recorded Billie Jean wins.

Live... Madonna has the better performances. The VMA's, Virgin Tour, Blonde Ambition, The Girlie Show

Billie Jean. This isn't even a contest. Why are these two battling it out? Yeah, they have the same bass line, but that's it. Like a Virgin is terribly dated, and I find it hard to believe that I ever liked it in the first place (though I know I did!). And this ain't about live performances, so are those just being mentioned so Madonna can have some sort of victory in this one?
wink

Next comparison: "Material Girl" vs. The Jacksons' "Can You Feel It".

Both are so overplayed. But of course, "billy jean" is a masterclass in innovative songwriting so I give to to jacko.

I don't think there's any contest here."Billie Jean" is arguably Michael's greatest moment."Like A Virgin" is nowhere near being one of Madonna's best singles.

there is no comparison, they're not in the same league.

More suitable battle would be

Like A Prayer/Nothing Fails VS Man In The Mirror/Will You Be There

Live To Tell Vs. Human Nature?

How about the titles:

Human Nature vs. Human Nature

Don't Stop Til You Get Enough vs. Don't Stop

Liberian Girl vs. Mer Girl

Love Song vs. Love Song

You Can't Win vs. Nothing Fails

hmmm

Man In Te Mirror - Love LAP, but his singing on MITM is just so passionate, one of his best vocals. And unlike on LAP MJ sings the adlibs himself when the big ass choir hits hard.

Live To Tell - Love Human Nature, but Live To Tell is Madonna at her best, she sounds so honest and the production/instrumentation is superb
