I get the feeling some of you think I am being insincere or ironical. You probably don't even know that 1) Mr. Ridgeley is now a partner in a company that makes surfing goods and 2) He is dating one of the girls from Bananarama.
As for the latter, if they spawn, talk about some musical genius children! All good things they say never last...

I hear Andrew started the whole "Unplugged" trend--but he did it with an electric guitar! Check this song out at:

I see the Org veterans know EXACTLY where this is headed I'm glad to see we're finally getting some etiquette around here.

You know, I praise Prince all the time on Ridgeley.Org and no one says a thing. But when I give a little love for Ridges over here, all y'all do is mock, mock, mock. Sigh... All good things they say never last...

Nah, those threads probably didn't mention Ridgeley. So, for that, Gotta, it's alright! Hey player, u cool with me. Go head on with your bad ass for diggin' Ridgeley! I respect that! Finally some understanding! You don't know how hard it is, supporting a man whose talent has made so many bitter and derisive. For great guitar, I recommend Ridgeley's bootleg version of "All Along the Watchtower". It sends chills up my spine! All good things they say never last...

Tito is cool..His solo on "Workin' Day & Night" from the "Jackson's Live" LP is pretty cool.
Shuggie Otis..Very funky, bluesy and jazzy..Sly and Jimi loved him. Steve Stevens..VERY underrated. Tony Maiden (Rufus)..In the pocket. "Dynamite" Danny - Graham Central Station..That cat could rock out w/ the best of them. Ray Parker Jr. - One of the best r&b rhythm cats..Paul Jackson Jr. is another dude that comes to mind. Steve Lukather - Mindblowing AND in the pocket. James "Blood" Ulmer - Fascinating. Jef Lee Johnson - VERY underated and unknown..but he's played w/ everyone from the Spice Girls to Chaka. Rudy from the "Fat Albert" band - Anyone that could whip out a white Strat with his initial R on is cool with me..THAT's going to be my next guitar. Lightin' Hopkins..he co-started rock and roll. ..I'm also gonna put my brutha Black Guitaristz on there..I liked the samples that were posted on him a while back. ..I'm only shooting for the underrated cats..Lawd knows we've talked about the other heroes..Jimi, Eddie and the rest.

Okay, there are many of you who have orgnoted me, suggesting that the shocking lack of photographic evidence of Mr. Ridgeley playing a guitar must prove that his skills are marginal at best. And, true, most concert photos from the era seem to show Mr. Ridgeley kind of standing around, looking forlorn, probably because he is tired of Mr. Michael stealing all the limelight. Photos like the one below show an example of this passivity:
But just because there is no proof of greatness, either on record or by visual illustration, does not mean the greatness is not there. I have always believed the greatness in Andrew's guitar playing came in the notes he didn't play. And believe me, he didn't play a bunch of great wonderful notes!
