too many albums by my favorite artists to list...typically, the biggest thing that makes me a fan of any band or artist is, "can i enjoy their stuff from beginning to end?" i think i was raised to value albums over singles or songs (not that one is better than the other either way), so i'd probably have an easier time listing bands who have lots of songs that i like but whose albums i don't care for.

With my favourite acts, I almost always listen to their albums all the way through, even when I cringe at the odd track - I even stick it out through Act Naturally when I listen to Help. There are a few albums that I think are a perfect ride, that are pristine, perfect (pardon me for using this phrase) song cycles:

John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band
John Cale - Paris 1919
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

All the 1980s Prince albums except for "Parade".

All the Rick James albums from 1978-1984 except for "Garden Of Love".

The Bar-Kays: "Night Cruising", "Propositions", and "Dangerous".

All of The Time's albums, Jesse Johnson's 1980s albums, Andre Cymone's albums, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, and Sheila E.'s first album.
Andy is a four letter word.

I'm a bit of a completist with my favorite artists, so there are countless albums on which I enjoy every track. I'm not really one to just grab a CD to put on just for a song or two. And even in this CD burning age, I almost always burn discs with an entire album and include the non-album material assosciated with it. With filesharing, I can't relate to all these kids who say, "I never buy CD's anymore, cuz I can just download the song I like." For me, it's a last resort after I've already purchased everything I can get my hands on but still need those last few elusive tracks. I'm definitely an album kinda guy. And like Damo said, even if there are a few songs I don't much care for, I'll stick it out just to have the full experience. I think the better question for me would be 'which albums do you think are perfect?'

I agree totally, I'm the exact same - even back in the old days before digital music, the only singles I ever bought were 12" for the extended versions and the only 7" singles I own were given to me by other people. I'd much rather listen to an album in it's entirety.

Here are some of the albums that I think are perfect and that I will only listen to the whole way through :

Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd - Animals
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

Roger Waters - The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking
Roger Waters - Radio KAOS
Roger Waters - Amused to Death

Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

Deep Forest - Deep Forest
Deep Forest - Boheme
Deep Forest - Comparsa
Deep Forest - Pacifique
Deep Forest - Music Detected

Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage

Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Jethro Tull - Minstrel in the Gallery
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

So am I... well, I've grown off her a bit lately but I'm still a huge fan. Her first 4 albums I could happily listen to from start to finish but she's lost her grip on quality control and the last 2 albums were painfully overlong.

Pixies-Surfer Rosa-I even like the chatter between Kim Deal & Frank Black between the songs.I could quote those verbatim.

Kim: "There were rumours he was into field hockey players"

Frank: "So I applied, basically.."

Frank: "You fuckin Die!"

I loved The Beekeeper staight away, but Scarlet took me awhile. When I'm in the right mood though, I really love it now. It's just a bit sleepy.
