1. Hollywood Palace 1969 – (no doubt he was banging Diana Ross)
why? What happened there? I haven' t seen it. How embarassing was that crap? Michael just stood on stage, laughed and waved at his fans, Elizabeth Taylor told them he wasn't going to sing, followed by some booing and her classic line "Don't BOO, it's an UGLY sound", and then a "FUCK YOU" from someone in the audience
Then he does this cute but annoying thing where the screaming starts to die down and he just encourages it some more by laughing and saying "I love you more" for the tenth time. And WTF was Celine Dion doing there? yeah, Mike just did stood onstage, but he was sooooo cutie cute that I had tears in my eyes watching him. I' m crazy, I know. The best one of all was when he couldn' t look into Berry Gordy' s eyes how embarresed he was. I was just crying watching it really. That was one of the sweetest things I ever saw. BTW guys, I am surpirsed that nobody brought up the Black or white video. that WAS a TV moment - that panther controversy. It was nasty, but great. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Ellie - strange question coming up - were you at the MJ day in Hammersmith recently? I'm sure I saw you mention it on another thread.
I wasn't there but a good friend of mine was. You may have seen him - he was the short, bald guy who won the signed photo of MJ! I think he had to go up on stage to collect it. Being the MJ freak he is, he was very happy indeed. And, yeah, I'm not enough of a Michael fan to know many of his tv appearances but the Motown 25th Anniversary special - THAT is stardom.

We sat at the bar the whole time cringing at some of the people up there and ended up babysitting and dancing with some little girl while her MJ fan-freak mother wandered off. Only went down for Jeffrey! [Edited 8/11/05 7:01am]

No, I don't think so. I was a bit drunk by then (you had to be to get through weirdos dancing around in gold thongs) so we started the whole "Gimme an S, gimme an I, gimme an M...!" because the other people were so shit.

Well, I'm not sure if that is him but I'll interrogate next time I see him. He's quite short, has a shaved head and is quite, er... camp. Really lovely person. He was also on crutches at the time - which he refused to walk on to the stage with, drama queen And one of the biggest MJ fans I've ever met. I just hope he wasn't one of the fans dancing around in a gold thong.

When I watched the Bashir documentary my favourite part was when Michael went to Germany to pick up that Golden Bambi award or whatever it was. His face looked ridiculous with all the make-up and his attire was tasteleass as ever, but when he walked on that stage he had some captivating presence, I tell you. There's something extraordinary about that man's body language when he gets on stage, even if just to pick up an award. Right on spot you can tell "right, it's him".

At the superbowl, Mike just stands there for ages doing absolutely nothing Like novabreaker was saying about stature and presence, mike can get away with just doing nothing but a "dictatoresque" pose
I timed it for a laugh. It was 1 minute 30 seconds of him just standing there frozen. U can see the crowd behind him looking around at their watches or whatever Then finially he turns his head and takes off his sunglasses very slowly. Genius. If it were anyone else, there would be boo's, but not ole' Mike though. Awesome show that day. And the crowd had to put up those "heal the world" cards for the helicopters to see. That musta been a laugh. [Edited 8/11/05 15:22pm]

The entire show was spectacular, but it was Michael who really stole the show. That one performance is what jump-started the whole 'Thriller' craze. The album started selling like crazy after that show aired.
Stole the Show & Stole the dance moves. In a nutshell he "repacked" 1970's B-Boys hip hop dance moves for the 1980's white media & white audience. They run the media & have the loudiest voice, so if they are excited about something then it is turned into fact. If the Internet was around in 1983, this moment & really allot of Early MTV Moments from MJ & Others would have been exposed. Because in the Hood the next day after Motown 25, everyone was laughing that people were going nuts over b-boy moves that were around for over a decade. Now add he lip synced it. amazing Come on... Michael started to dance some hip hop moves since the Dancing Machines days... Do you remember when he did the Robot in 1973 ??? Everybody knows that... Plus saying "he stole the moves" is stupid... Tell me one artist who has never "stolen" anything ???...

I guess this is your strategy for dissing artists that you don't like....simply accuse them of ripping off other people (yawn).Newsflash: Nothing done in pop music is unique.Everything has been done before and every artist is influenced by artists that came before them.Regardless of where MJ got his moves from, there is no denying that his performance of "Billie Jean" on that Motown special was captivating.Criticize his face-lifts,his eccentic behavior, his nose jobs, but at least give credit where it is due.He is a brilliant song-and-dance man and always has been. Are we clear on that? Damn!

Dig if you will:
Randy, Marlon, and Mike are all sitting around the table eagerly awaiting to eat. on the table is a bowl of cereal. Randy : Hey, try this... Marlon : Noooo, I'm not gonna try it, you try! Randy: Nooooo Im not gonna try it. YOU should try it Marlon : Noooo! Randy: Hey... lets get mikey to try it..... Marlon : Yeahhhhh! Hey Mike! They slide the bowl to a hungry ass lookin mj with puffed out cheeks. He takes a huge bite of the cereal, crosses his eyes, and falls to the floor. Randy and Marlon look down at mike Marlon : I guess Mikey didn't Likey! Jacksons Variety Show summer 1976

Actually I loved that part in the Bashir doc at the Bambi awards with that funny sinister voiceover insinuating that Michael walking up to the stage a bit before his cue was an "emabarassing moment for everyone" and was indicative of his falling star
