The greatest soundtrack song of all time

Belongs to this man:

I know y'all were expecting me to say something from Wham! or Prince but in the end who can deny the power and the glory that is...

"The Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera

I find myself singing this song at least once a day. I still mess up the lyrics (that first verse is always tough) but by the time I get to "I am a man who will fight for your honor, I'll be the hero that you've been dreaming of" I am soaring to vocal heights I just cannot reach with any other song.

Absolutely perfect for the movie it was crafted for, Karate Kid II, this song is an illustration of when artists actually cared about the songs they gave to movies. Now they just give them leftover crap that didn't fit on other albums. Cetera's yearning vocals and heroic lyrics just completely nail the journey that Daniel-san takes in the film. His love for Kumiko could not be expressed any better.

Peter, you get the official "Wham! Seal of Approval" from this dude.

I'm actually partial to the Dirty Dancing Sountrack song that Patrick Swayze sung.. "She's Like the Wind"

So overplayed, but it must be Over The Rainbow.

Funny thing is I never think of PR as a soundtrack. I know that's stupid, but I had the album for quite awhile before I saw the movie.

Okay, before this goes any further, I will take Prince off the table. Obviously Prince's soundtrack contributions are pre-eminent in my mind, or else I would not be posting on Prince. Org. My contention is that this is the greatest non-Prince soundtrack song of all time.

Alright so there is a slight resemblance, I'll grant you that. Doesn't make the song kick any less ass.

COMPLETE agreement that this song is a great one. Definitely a contender. From the Boomerang soundtrack which had a few other good songs as well. I still remember the dual titan soundtracks of Mo Money and Boomerang that summer, with Jam and Lewis doing the Mo Money and Babyface producing a lot of the latter. I always preferred the Boomerang soundtrack even though Mo Money had some good cuts on it too.
