there was that one just called CHANT, with all the floating monks on the cover. it was like "hooked on chants" or something.

There was quite a big interest in the Celtic mysticism and medieval chanting about ten years ago, resulting in two
stand-out hits, one being Enigma's Return to innocence, the other Clannad's Theme from Harry's game. A wave of
updated Celtic ambient trippy chill-out beats-product ensued, mostly bought by, suprisingly, women of all ages.

In the Netherlands, there was the utter successful compilation series 'Celtic Myst'. They must have gotten up to
five releases, and a few more special editions.

Boy, do I remember them! I can't think of anything more depressing on a dance floor than hearing a song that reminds me of monks in a monestary.

I found that most of the stuff that rode the wave about 10 years ago was lame. Gregorian and aboriginal chant over dance beats?!? WTF?! Chant is supposed to be cleansing and exalting, not help you get crunk! disbelief

I have a few albums of medieval ecclesiastic and indigenous chant music, but they're kind of obscure. I listen to them all the time along with pipe organ concerti.

People say I like listening to "funeral music." lol

I used to love those commercials and I actually wanted to buy them as a kid. redface I really did. I have The Celts by Enya, and it's really not that bad. I like Celtic music when I'm in the mood for it.
