Anybody heard of this band called Spirit? A frind of mine at work told me that they were actually a pretty good band from the 70's, but I have my suspicions. Were they like that corny, 70's arena rock/power ballad, cock rock type of band, or did they manage to do something different? To me the only great music from the 70's was Punk, Funk, Reggae, New Wave and Led Zeppelin. And I'm open for arguement on that, by the way.
So who's heard of Spirit? NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Spirit actually started out in the late sixties - they varied between vaguely folkish tunes (Nature's Way is probably their most famous song, I guess) and energetic (sometimes acid-influenced) rock. I suppose you could say they're like a slightly less trippy version of Love, if you know that band. I only have two of their albums (The Family That Plays Together and Dr. Sardonicus), but I rate them both very highly. Dr. Sardonicus in particular is a fantastic album - excellent guitar playing, and very melodic, well written songs. [Edited 8/6/05 14:31pm]

I'm jealous... Do you know if Arthur Lee is still playing Forever Changes in its entirety in his set? I'd heard he toured with a small horn and string section a year or two back playing the full album.
