Any decent Funk Compilations out there? I don't mean ones that are your standard 'Time-Life' hits like Brick House or Atomic Dog. I just picked one up called "Now Again Records Presents Cold Heat - Heavy Funk Rarities 1968-1974" and it is very good. Just wondering if there were any other good ones out there. Thanks.

Though, this might be too funky for most of y'all.

The Funk Box Misses some faves, but it covers all of the bases. By far the most decent. Check me out and add me on:

This is a good compilation, and it's what got me started:
Check out the allmusic entry for a track listing and samples. If you wanna try something more organic, earthy, sweaty funk, try Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. They're a new group, but sound like they came about in the 60s. Again, the allmusic listing has more on them, including their blistering version of Janet's What Have You Done for Me Lately?

The very best series I have seen is "Phat Trax" Volumes 1-7. Most of the tracks on all the series are either the full length album versions or 12 Inch versions.
