It's been 1 year since the passing of Rick James

I can't believe it's been a full year already. I miss him. Any more news on his forth coming cd?

Some people were insensitive about Rick's passing due to some of the despicable things he had done in his lifetime, but I believe Rick was a decent person outside of the dope and women (I don't know, though). Didn't he get clean and take care of his kids in his final years? I feel sad that one of the great funkmeisters is no longer with us. sad

Mary Jane
You & I
69 Times
Pass The Joint
Ghetto Life
Bustin' Out
Cold Blooded
....I didn't even mention the bigger hits, because those are too obvious. But if you dig a lil' deeper, his other stuff is just as funky. nod

Well, I know that the CD should be released soon. Also, I heard there is going to be a tribute concert for Slick Rick on the August 25 in LA at the Gibson Ampitheater . The concert will feature the Ohio Players, Mary J. Blige, Lakeside, Stone City Band, and whole group others to be annouced. Ticketes will be on sale starting next week.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I had to work late that evening and the radio was playing one Rick James song after another. It was spooky as hell in that dark, empty building that night. When I got off work, me and Bud Light mixed up some Rick James jams from hell!

I read on the Rick James site that there is a new CD out that contains not only Rick James hits, but also some songs by The Stone City Band, Val Young, and other protegees. I looked for it in three record stores yesterday and none of them had it. I guess I'll have to order this just like I had to order the DVDs.

Process & The Doo Rags are a singing group that Rick had put together in the 80's. These cats could really blow.
