It depends on what you're looking for.
If it's something commercial, i'm sure you'll get a ton of suggestions.

However, i'll suggestion a release i've described in the past as Funk in the hands of master musicians.

Herbie Hancock (2nd Headhunters release)...

...Thrust

This is not only funky, but well written compositions.
It'll not only groove you, but give you something to think about instrumentally.

This is from 1970 so the funk comes more from how the drums and basslines groove, while the keyboards/organs are more like 60s soul, rather than squiggly Moogs you would expect from 70s funk.

that's not even the funkiest j5/mj or Jacksons album... lol lol lol

The J5 were really good at funk. Here's a clip of the J5 in concert. Real Band, not like these other boy bands, real funk
http://www.putfile.com/me...p?n=J5funk

They played sly stuff alot in their first shows in 70 and 71. They met sly and bobby Taylor introduced them to Hendrix. Here's a clip of them coverin' sly in 70.

http://www.putfile.com/me...thankyou90

The funkiest Jacksons tune imo is Hum along and dance.

Voices, you can't fail with Licking Stick. This is my choice.

and if you're new to the funk cop Essential Sly, even though I don't like comps for newbies, that's a great one.

You cannot deny it. 9-minute live version of "Mother Popcorn." What else can you ask for?
Ooh, little darlin' if you're
free 4 a couple of hours (Free 4 a couple of hours)
If U ain't busy 4 the next 7 years (Next 7 years)

I would vote for There's A Riot Going On, it's so funky it feels like noxious fumes bubbling up from some tar pit under the earth. Fresh is just as funky, but doesn't have that unique, terrifying yet alluring, junkie-funky atmosphere of Riot.

Speaking of Fresh I've tried to start a Survivor of it but no one seems to notice sad http://www.prince.org/msg/8/155745

Jack..Do the "Fresh" Survivor thread..I'll be on it! The funkiest LP?...There's a lot, but the one for me that's nonstop all the way thru?...Betty Davis' debut.
Larry Graham and Gregg Errico on bass and drums keep the funk flowing. No pop, no blues, (one ballad)..just straight out funk.

That's an extremely hard question. I don't even know which one to choose because there are so many to choose from. Probably "Throwin' Down" by Rick James.
