No need to blush. I'm just upgrading some of my collection from tape to CD. Albums I've had on cassette forever, but never bothered to pick up a CD copy.

That's what I'm talking about! I can't believe how brilliant "The Idiot" is!!! This album is an all time fave! I wish (again) it was a Bowie album... His "Sister Midnight" performance on the Reality DVD made me go to musical heaven...

I sometimes feel that way too, but Bowie had so much brilliant stuff in that time period, he could afford to share the wealth. Plus, it's my favorite Iggy album. I'm kinda glad it turned out the way it did. But I would like to see some more Bowie versions of songs from that album.

Oh yea! I'd love to hear Bowie's "Dum Dum Boys" & "Funtime" (I do love Boy George's version )... And I think the original "China Girl" is way much better than the "Let's Dance-version" (but I love that too...) Though Bowie's versions of "Tonight" and "Neighborhood Threat" are not so exciting for me...

True. But I think he could do a rocking live version of "The Passenger".

I wish the 2 of them would get together more often. I'd kill to see them perform a double bill concert.

78 I got into a bit of a Roxy Music kick lately and decided to buy this live release which includes performances from 1973, 1974 and 1975. While a bit disjointed due to the different eras, the album holds up pretty well. "In Every Dream Home a Heartache" really shines in its extended fury here while "Do the Strand" carries its energy quite well to a live setting, sounding like a crowd favorite. What I figured to be my favorite, "If There Is Something" is a little disappointing but still worthwhile here. Get their BBC Sessions. Also try Avalon!

This reissue is a model for all others – stereo and mono versions of the album, loads of quality non-lp tracks from this era, slick packaging and an informative booklet. The album itself is fantastic, one of the great unheralded classics of the later stages of the British invasion. I've been wanting to explore the Kinks for a long time now but have NO idea where to start. Is this what you'd suggest? I just got into them this year. I bought Village Green first. It was quieter than I expected and took a while, but I love it now. Then I bought Lola, which I immediately liked, but now I like Village Green Better. Then I bought Arthur, which I immediately liked and is probably my favorite. Next will be Face to Face. Check this song out at:
