As a teeneager this album totally affected my life! I love the storytelling aspects of the songwriting, with all the little details about different character's lives, the romance, the exoticism of their world (sigh)...I could say that bar none Promise is the definitive piece of work that actually inspired me to move to Europe; I heard that record, and thought "wow! When I grow up I want THAT, I want to be able to have stories like THAT in my repatoire"! And Baby, the videos from that record! I ADORED those videos! They were so 80's in that ultra glam soap opera kind of way...absolutely my cup o'tea..

Actually, that last line should be... "Till you're back I stay awake". Moms worry -- what can ya do? smile

I love "Maureen" as well; it's my favorite song on Promise.

My favorite Sade album is Stronger Than Pride. I've been a fan of Sade since the beginning, and I also prefer her more recent work. Love Deluxe and Lovers Rock are incredible projects (not that the band has released a bad album yet).
