I prefer Brandy.

That song ("the boy is mine") was so shit. Rnb's darkest hour. That fucking song was everywhere.


I go for brandy. At least a few of her songs were quite cool. I cannot remember any of moncica's right now.

Monica's had 3 stellar R&B records and her sound is more mature, soulful, and classy...

But I gotta go MOESHA! Brandy's greatest hits reads like a map of my adolescence and young adulthood. "baby" "full moon" "afrodisiac" "almost doesn't count" "top of the world" "what about us?"...she's my fave out of the Aaliyah/Mya/Monica crowd and paved the way for Britney and Xtina's overpolished white asses.

BTW I am white so I can say that.

Mya was different to me personally and reminded me of tyler collins. Cute, fine and innocent looking. With the same music to boot.

I hated all of them really though. With exceptions, most those "lets keep men on their toes" songs were too hell bent on making pop "cool".

I like both of them, But I think Monica is more sexy. Her voice is more sexy and mature. Brady is like popR&B, Monica is like R&BSoul/Neo classic. I like both, I cant choose.

I still don't understand why Monica has a career

Monica's had a small handful of GREAT songs, but I hated it when she covered and ruined Eternal's 'Angel Of Mine'.

Gotta go with Brandy for being more consistent.

And where's Mya these days? I thought it was funny seeing her in Chicago - the only professional singer in her scene and the weakest voice

I think Monica is the better singer,but I prefer Brandy.She has more good songs,imo.But both ladies could use some great new material.Both of their last albums suck!

Monica - she can actually sing. Brandy whispers so that I can barely understand what she says. And then when I do figure it out, I don't care what she said in the first place.

I've always thought Monica was a far superior vocalist from most of her so-called "peers", particularly Brandy. She demonstrated that at the 1998 MTV VMA's when they performed "The Boy Is Mine" and Monica proceeded 2 wipe the floor with Brandy. That having been said, I think Brandy has had a stronger back catalogue overall with better songs, if not vocals, than Monica.
