NEW YORK -- Pharrell Williams of the Grammy-winning production duo The Neptunes tops Esquire's second annual list of the "Best Dressed Men in the World."

Esquire credits Williams with "injecting dressed-up luxury into hip-hop style and thereby influencing a new generation of guys to consider more than just a pair of baggy jeans a reflection of their youthful vitality."

Williams, 32, tells the magazine: "It's never about whether I'm the best-dressed guy in the room. I never go, `Oh, I'm killin' 'em tonight!' Instead it's about comfort and the flow."

Andre 3000, ranked No. 1 last year, dropped to No. 5.

Other best-dressed men include Jake Gyllenhaal, Kanye West, Jude Law, George Clooney, Matt Lauer, Josh Lucas, Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand, Jay-Z, pro quarterback Tom Brady, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi of Japan, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Southern rock band My Morning Jacket, Luke Wilson, pro running back Curtis Martin, Paul Bettany, former President Clinton, Chris Martin, pro golfer Adam Scott and Donald Trump.

The list, compiled by a panel of fashion experts and Esquire editors, will be in the magazine's September issue.

I was never crazy about the trucker hats and the Tshirts... well I was just glad they were hanging down to his knees. I don't know about best dressed but he has had some good moments...

Okay, I will admit whoever dressed him for these events did a good job -maybe the STYLIST should get the award- but on the regular when he dresses himself for regular shit like interviews and videos this guy is not what's up!

U have to admit that Pharrell is a fashion innovator whether u like his threads or not. Who was wearing trucker hats with canary diamonds before him? Who brought that hybrid of skateboard punk and hip hop swagger better than him? He is as unpredictable fashionwise as anyone. U never know if he's gonna go Gucci or grunge on u. Its cool to me how he mixes different ideas and has the ballz to showcase to the world what he thinks is fresh. Thats what fashion is about anyway, isnt it? Its about having the balls to be creative and he does it well.

just another reason why i wouldn't be caught dead reading esquire magazine. they know fashion like Divine knew a diet. pharrell williams? top best dressed man? shit, the judges must have been blind.

I wouldn't give him best dressed but he has looked pretty good over the last year or 2. These best and worst dressed lists are something else. Most of the people doing these list look like they belong in the circus, so I always take them with a big grain of salt.

Hey I'm not asking for alot here and I agree withthe post above - although he does look good in those pics he has a normal look the suits are plain he's mostly Neat and well groomed not a fashion man

i'm sorry but an expensive blazer over an expensive t shirt and a pair of expensive jeans does not make anywhere near my top best dressed lists. his style comes right out of any random ad...or the mind of a poor stylist. either way, its lame.

I think he just got an extra boost because he's tied into the hip hop crowd and anytime anybody other than Puffy associated with hip hop puts on something other than Tshirt and sneakers they're suddenly a fashionista.

I prefer a shirt and blazer anyday at least when going to award shows and parties. I don't mind a Tshirt sometimes but I loathe the ridiculously oversized white Tees that look like nightgowns. Oversized Tees with oversized shorts down past the knees that aren't really pants, etc. WTF is that about from a grown man? And I don't care what brand underwear you're wearing I don't want to see it unless you're stripping for me in the privacy of my bedroom/bathroom/backseat not while you're walking down the street.

Ive never been a fan of oversized t-shirts either. A t-shirt shouldnt meet at your knees. If it does, a man usually ends up looking like Alvin, Theodore or Simon.



Id rather see them fitted than drooping towards the floor.
