I think you need to sit down and make a rash decision. This is the most idiotic thing i've ever heard.. I'm not even sure this even surfaces as a subjective opinion.. its just plan rediculous..

I'm gonna be nice and leave it at that..

Personally, I like it a lot better when George was singing like one of the blackest sounding white male artists even. And only Michael McDonald & Rick Ashley could do it better!

I can think of a few others that would sing George Michael into early retirement...

Bill Champlin
Steve Winwood
P.J. Proby
Delbert McClinton
Mitch Ryder

...just off the top of my head.

nod Most definitely, Steve Winwood is a bad cat. I've heard his collaborations with Chaka and Etta James and its off the hook.

Father Figure is my favorite song from the Faith album.

I didn't care for the album version of Monkey. But Monkey (Remix) goes off! THAT'S the real version use for the video. cool

Well, you know why the remix is the shit. That's simply b/c Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Produced it.

no, he didn't. he wrote all of their songs lol and I bet that Andrew was named co-writer on "Carelss Whisper" only cause George felt a bit sorry for him... or probably Andy was even in the recording studio at one point (very wild guess here...) telling George "Hey, I like that sound"... so he got the credit nod

Sigh...this is always what happens. People look as George as the "great, talented, only one who could sing guy" and Andrew as the "mute, untalented, couldn't play the guitar if his very life literally depended on it" guy. Then they start talking about how George's solo career was huge while Andrew's solo projects have sold, literally, only to members of his extended family and friends from his high school. They negate Andrew because they don't understand him. I have said this for years on Ridgeley.Org and the 3 or 4 people who have also found this site agree with me.

Us Andy fans believe that if you have to compare Wham! to a band almost as good, the Beatles, then their counterparts are as follows:

John Lennon= George Michael
Paul McCartney= Mr. Andrew Ridgeley, esq.
George Harrison= Pepsi
Ringo Starr= Shirley

Deon Estus would be Pete Best, I guess.
All good things they say never last...

I enjoy that ol' Wham! stuff quite a bit, but I have to correct a few misconceptions here:

1. Wham!, while quite entertaining, are not the best band of the last 25 years.

2. Andrew Ridgley was not the "genius" of Wham!. All one has to do is listen to his at solo album Son of Albert to realize that his musical talents are on par with Milli Vanilli.

3. Wham! did not create "gansta rap" with "Wham Rap". In fact, even calling it rap is fairly generous. It is fun, fluffy pop, and that is about it.

4. Deon Estus was the "George Harrison" of Wham!, not Pepsi or Shirley.

I feel I must retort your retorts, even though I said I would summarily dismiss all arguments to the contrary that Wham! was the best band of the last 25 years, neigh, perhaps ever.

1. Wham!, while quite entertaining, are not the best band of the last 25 years.

Who would you suggest in their place? New Kids on the Block? Hanson? Frankie Goes to Hollywood? I can think of no band that provided more "chock full of sunshine" hits then Wham! The fact that they retired at their prime just left us all wanting more, the sign of a classic band.

2. Andrew Ridgley was not the "genius" of Wham!. All one has to do is listen to his at solo album Son of Albert to realize that his musical talents are on par with Milli Vanilli.

Mr. Ridgeley was the glue, the soul. the cog, the core, the essence of Wham! All George did was write all the lyrics and sing all the songs. But George could not ape guitar playing like Andrew if his life depended on it.

And have you TRULY ever listened to "Son of Albert"? Blared it on your car stereo at 3:00 AM? Listened to it on your headphones while somewhat high on cold medicine? If you have and you were not steamrolled by the virtual magic that comes off of those beautiful tracks you are a hard-hearted cynic who needs to do some serious soul-searching.

3. Wham! did not create "gansta rap" with "Wham Rap". In fact, even calling it rap is fairly generous. It is fun, fluffy pop, and that is about it.

Mr. Michael eloquently symbolized, in the truly hardcore Wham! Rap, the pressure and sadness of being expected to be employed, i.e. just another number in the system, when his true desire was to have fun and wear triliby hats and whatnot. Maybe I don't know what gangsta rap is but if that is not gangsta rap then I don't know what gangsta rap is.

4. Deon Estus was the "George Harrison" of Wham!, not Pepsi or Shirley.

But Deon, while a talented musician (and I loved that song he did with George, "Heaven Help Me"---that song alone perhaps qualifying Deon as one of the top pop solo males of the last 25 years) was not as vital as Pepsi and Shirley in making the machine that was Wham! run. Could Deon even dance? Was he named after a soda pop? I rest my well-proven case.

I have refuted all of your charges and the fact remains that Wham! IS the best band of the last 25 years.
All good things they say never last...
