Donny Osmond vs David Cassidy

Which one of these blandy craptastic former teen-idol turned cabaret/stage musical stars do you prefer?

In the sitcom cameo round, David Cassidy in Malcolm In The Middle by far beats Donny Osmond in Friends!

Donny Osmond is back. I've been hearing him on a smooth jazz station. It doesn't really sound like what we are used to hearing, like during his Soldier of Love days.

The song that I've been hearing is "Breeze On By," which samples George Benson's "Breezin."

Both were cool when I was little. I loved and still love The Partridge Family, so I got hip to Cassidy from that show. I also watched Donny and Marie when I was little. Today, both seem very cool and down to earth. Besides the Jackson 5, you couldn't get any bigger than David and Donny in the early 70's. They were both HUGE teen idols. Good thread.

nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

At least Donny has managed to stay around and and not be a complete joke. David Cassidy hasn't aged well, and the only time he appears anywhere is as part of a where-are-they-now-thing.

Plus Donny seems to have some musical talent; not so sure about David.

Donny must love George Benson, I've seen him sing 20/20. Loves Prince too, I've seen him sing You've Got The Look. He once said he admired Prince and how he always gives you what you don't expect, "So my next album is going to sound like Prince." I think he missed his own point!

You can't get away from them round here. Donny Osmond even takes presenting jobs on UK breakfast TV shows, cos all the female co-presenters are in their late 30s/early 40s and still worship him. I must say he's aged VERY well, unlike David Cassidy.

They're both part of that hanfdul of artists that release a new album of covers every other year, always the week before Mother's Day. Lionel Richie does it with his endless Greatest Hits albums. Donny, David and Lionel have all had these silly UK TV specials of Saturday evening shows with them duetting with a bunch of cheesy current popstars, usually reality TV show winners adn rejects.

That "Soldier of Love" was the jammy jam. I remember when that record came out and the radio stations were promoting it as being from a mystery artist because they were too embarrassed to admit playing a Donny O record. And God, how does the man keep his teeth so white!

Cassidy is a tool.

i was a david cassidy kid all the way. i watched the partridge family reruns faithfully when i was little, and i wore out my copy of "the harder they fall" because to my 7 year old mind, david cassidy's cover of "da doo ron ron" was the best thing happening in popular music at the time. lol

"soldier of love" rocks. Any rhythm syndicate fans should know that the 2 guys wrote and produced that song. But donnys follow up album "eyes dont lie" is alot better. Donny is very funky on the typical david gamson song "sure lookin'". Who thought donny had it in him to be funky? He even gets pop swingy on "take another try at love", which is also a gamson production.

those 2 albums of donny are cool. Thats it. And people front on "one bad apple", which is j5 good.

David worshipped Hendrix, so he's cool in my book cool

I always liked Donny's "I'm a little bit rock 'n roll" segment on The Donny and Marie Show. Marie, though, was my favorite, for obvious reasons razz

Heard she has a ton of kids, though...
