I think we have never talked about them on this board before...

Some people hate them, some people love them...

So what do you think about this group ??

I liked them a lot back then, I got their first 4 albums, then I lost interest it seems... dion't know their later stuff really
"Georgy Peorgy" is a genuine classic though and certainly still my fave track by them
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I thought they had the "blue-eyed soul" thing down perfectly. Besides that, they were the cream of the crop, musically, and Steve Lukather kicked/and kicks ass to this day on guitar.

nod That's a cold jam along with Africa, Rosanna, Hold The Line, and I'll Be Missing You. This group is pretty tight and I have to agree with what JesseDezz says about them being some of the cream the crop musically. Alot the cats who are in the band are well know studio musicians.

its kinda sad to know an act like this wouldnt make it big today....i loved Africa and Rosanna....

didnt Michael McDonald do backing on those two tracks? i love how back in the day big acts would sing backing just for the heck of it....like mj doing it for kenny loggins....and james ingram doing it for mj.....and mm for toto....

and i aint talking janet jackson guesting on some horrid homophobes dancehall tune or missy elliot ruining a song with her nauseating rap....

just good ole regular backing vocals to compliment...not distract.

lol Rodanna could have been a Godzilla villain.

Toto is good. Hold the Line is one of my favorites. I have Toto IV at home and listen to it regularly. Great musicians and songwriters.

Toto is definitely the bomb. Actually, I still listen to their stuff in my Launchcast player.

It's not that I have anything against their music... it's just that it doesn't move me, I don't find it interesting, and I don't listen to it.

For all aspects of their music, I think there are better alternatives elsewhere.

But the thing that really makes me sick is the fact that people tend to like it because "they're so good musicians"...

They don't have enough Funk or Soul for your blood. Well, I can dig it.

No, it's not that either...

For me, TOTO is just too safe, and too well-behaved. TOTO is goody two-shoes. TOTO is dry sex with triple condoms...though very properly executed.

wink Great analogy. I like your style. You're right. They're not that cutting edge and there only like few songs that I like from them.

Toto was in a similar bag as Forignerand REO Speedwagon. They wrote MOR cuts for the masses. Well written, well played and well produced pop/rock. Lot of bands with that same formula during the late 70's , early 80's. That's what afforded them 9 cars, 3 mansions and a speedboat.

Toto have been working extensively on their new album for the past eight months. They have been documenting
that as well on their offical site. It is a nice gesture to strenghten the ties between the band and the fans, to build
anticipation and appreciation.

See where this is going? This is not a quasi-reporter namechecking celebrities that sip out of chocolate-fountains
while some dimunitive rocker in his pyjamas tears up a Stratocaster. These are real people in a studio, really thankful
for the chemistry they have amongst them. Have a read at the site. They could be onto something.

cool

There is no "so", player. Just making a statement. My statement wasn't taking anything away from your post.
