Robert Plant - Mighty Rearranger

I know it's been out a couple of months but has anyone else picked this up? I've been disappointed with Plant's solo career but this set is really something else. Hard rock and ambient at the same time with some really strong songs. Tin Pan Alley is really damn good. Anyone else digging it?

I really like it. nod There are maybe two songs on it that I don't like so much, but overall I listen to it a lot. thumbs up!

Plus, I saw him a few weeks ago in concert and he did a few tracks from this album. The live version of "The Enchanter" at the encore right before "Whole Lotta Love" was amazing! headbang

The rest were all Zep songs though. cloud9

I really like this album. It's kind of mellow, but still has a good blues/rock feel, mixed with some world-music sounds.
But I've almost always liked Plant solo. "Manic Nirvana" was a great rock record (well, the first two-thirds), and what was the other one? "Long cool one"? That was great!

falloff If you've seen Robert Plant in his tight jeans, you know he's not singing about anything long.

I don't think so, but I've never heard that one.

Good album, overall. It is my first Plant solo album. It's a little bit like Page/ Plant's largely excellent 'No Quarter' album, tho not quite as good perhaps.

Read a funny article in a magazine a while back, when Jimmy Page was asked if he had heard 'Mighty Rearranger'. He said no he hadn't, to which the interviewer replied, 'Sounds like you're on it in places.'

He's not, but one of the 2 guitarists sounds like he's channelling Jimmy at times! smile

Fave tracks so far - The Enchanter & Mighty Rearranger.

When's Jimmy gonna get a new solo (or even Page/ Plant/ John Paul, if they put away the handbags) thang out??

lol Yeah, I've had several people (who know I'm a huge Zeppelin fan) ask me if it's Jimmy playing on Robert's album after they heard a couple of tracks off it. biggrin

Jimmy's been talking recently about work on a new album, but who knows when it will be released. I know that he recorded a song for a tribute album to Jerry Lee Lewis, but there are a ton of other artists on that one as well. That's not out yet either. And JPJ contributed on the new Foo Fighters album. nod (which I don't yet have)
