Bring Back 1997

Now that the Backstreet Boys are back on the top of the charts where they belong, I DEMAND the following groups come out of hiding and I further DEMAND that the masses go and buy their records:

N-Sync--come on, JT, you can't act worth crap and Lance Bass is bored. Record an album NOW!

Spice Girls--And you have to bring back Geri or no deal! Come back, girls, we are ready for some girl power all over again!

Hanson-I don't care if all of your voices have changed and the oldest brother is 30 and your music sounds like the 4th runner up at a carnival talent show. "Mmmm Bop" moved me damn it! Move me again!

I will expect my demands met in the next few weeks and the pop charts to be pasted with these groups asap...or else. mad

Okay babe - I'll let you have them because I did like at least one song from each of these groups - however I knew they didn't have any staying power because Overkill is exactly that overKILL

You know I am not a huge fan of the movie but I do like the fact that they make fun of themselves in it. They are humble and seem to understand that they, like all pop artists, have a expiration date. The thing is that some groups are so magical or inspirational that, after a long winter, they deserved to be revived. I believe that Hanson, Spice Girls, and N*S*Y*N*C are ready to be re-born.

For me, '97 is where the 90's started to turn sour. That year, Puff Daddy released his solo album and rap music as we know it went down the tubes. Bands like Matchbox 20 and Third Eye Blind completely took any life out of what was left of the alternative movement. And then, you know, Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys took over the world. We still haven't recovered from these 3 trends in rap, pop and rock. Please, do not bring back '97.

1997 represents a much simpler time in my life. Some of the mainstream music may have sucked but this year sure does bring back good memories for me. biggrin

No way the best rap record by the greatest Hip-Hop group of all time came out that year "Wu-Tang Forever " by Wu-Tang Clan !

Yeah. Missy and OutKast and Busta and Lil Kim were all doing their thing too. But overall, I'd say the quality of rap started to go downhill around that time with the proliferation of bling.
