Along the lines of what V said when you go after crossover success things can change in the music. Ray has made a fortune in session work and excellent real estate deals. You're right. He's done session work for everybody such as Roy Ayers and Bill Withers just to name a few. [Edited 8/2/05 21:16pm]

I would also add his 1987 duet with Natalie Cole "Over You" and his 1983 jam "Bad Boy".

He produced, played and wrote a cut for of all people glenn medeiros. It was called "all Iam lissing is you". He is even on backing vox ("gimme that love").
It was a reasonable hit with a video aswell. Back in 1990 I think? "in my heart, in my head, in my mind, in my bad, all Iam missing is you" Great song. Funky too.

Sad but true! | |

The cut "She Needs To Get Some" was a good update of "A Woman Needs Love" IMO. This album doesn't stack up with the Raydio albums of the past, but it's better than a lot of his other solo stuff. THAT song is funny as shit!

Little Richard with the Pointer Sisters and Ray Parker Jr., leads an all-star group at the taping of "American Bandstand's 50th ... A Celebration". http://www.vh1.com/artist.../bio.jhtml Born May 1, 1954, in Detroit, MI, Parker started out as a teenaged session guitarist playing on sessions recorded for Holland-Dozier-Holland's Hot Wax and Invictus Records whose roster listed Freda Payne, Honey Cone, Chairman of the Board, 100 Proof Aged in Soul, Laura Lee, and 8th Wonder. He'd also play behind the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, the Spinners, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and other Motown acts when they appeared at the Twenty Grand Club. In 1972, Wonder called Parker to ask him to play behind him on a tour that he was doing with the Rolling Stones. Parker thought it was a crank call and hung up the phone. Wonder called back and convinced Parker that he was the real deal by singing "Superstition" to him. Ray wrote "Mr Telephone Man" for New Edition among many other beloved songs. I love this guy! He's never gotten the props that he deserves!

why does evryone always hate on Ray Parker jr. for the Ghostbusters song?? i like that song and the video too. i dint see anything wrong with it or any of his early stuff for that matter "Americans consume the most fast food than any nation on Earth and the stupid motherfuckers wonder why they are so fat?
