oh I really don't mean to make light of it. I know first hand about weak looking bruthas and how they can "man up" and attempt to whip a woman's ass...

been there, seen that, had it tried....

but El Debarge's high pitched voice sayin " Bitch I said NO!" echoes through my mind and that shit is comical to me.

again I say

I am sorry

El has a beautiful voice and was also a talented writer and piano player. He shoulda blew up bigtime. Ah well...

He did blow up pretty big. He had alot of Pop Solo singles after he left Debarge such as: I Wonder Who's Holding Donna Now, Who's Johnnie, You Wear It Well, and Dance With Me. I especially remember You Wear It Well b/c that single was produced by Jesse Johnson. Overall, El Debarge's solo career was doing well until some women accused him of rape and it ended up like a 2Pac/Tyson situation and he ended up serving some time. However, he did make a comeback with Foreplay and DJ Quick.

eek
I didn't know he went to jail!
I knew some of his brothers did for drugs and older brother from switch died of aids... I didn't think El had any problems with law.

2 questions of you Ms. Legs:

1. Were there any of the Debarge sibings with drug problems (beside James, Bobby, & Chico)?

2. Was James bisexual? (BTW, this was rumor to be part of the reason why Janet left him).

James Debarge had a cocaine problem and was bisexual. Also, some of the Debarge brothers that were in Switch also had problems with drugs as well.

shocked

Somebody bring me the smelling salts. I didn't know that James was bi.
I always thought Janet and James had a secret child (cared for by the Jackson clan to allow Janet to leave James and pursue a solo career with Jam and Lewis

I have his 1991 album 'Through The Storm'.This is an intertesting album because it was produced by Maurice White, and it even features a Prince-written song called "Tip O My Tongue".There's also a nice duet with the then-unknown Chante Moore,"You Know What I Like".

Didn't u read my earlier post mad ? Anyway, its got some good tracks on it. Alot better then the followup. "in the storm" is a nice track too.

Yeah, I still listen to In The Storm. I think it was better than the follow up album. But, Mind Body and Soul was good too.

wasn't it Chico Debarge that went to jail not EL?

Also although I loved Debarge I was still originally in Love with Bobby, El's older brother who was the lead singer os Switch.

...wasn't it just SO all about SWITCH back in the day???? You make me wanna go look up songs now!

Thank you, I knew that I wasn't they only one that knew this. His situation was kind of like Tyson if my memory serves me correctly.

If I remember correctly it was for rape or attempted rape. After 1 of their shows a young lady came back to their hotel and after this made these accusations. I remember the Debarge's mother going on Lee Bailey's Radioscope back then saying "she should have knew what was going to happen cause boys will be boys". I thought that was fucked up! They are a family of great singers they certaintly had issues.

Switch was kickin' ass back then! I have their first three albums, and I like their music even better than Debarge's albums. My favorite song is "Love Over And Over Again" from their 1980 album 'Welcome To My Dream' (their best album, imo).

I met some of them in a LA Mcdonalds when I was 15 (1979). They came in and they had one their own tee shirts.

me and my cousin were like damn where'd they get those shirts? and then omg THEY ARE ON THE SHIRTS

complete with squealing, pointing and giggling.

It was Tommy, Eddie and Greg.

Others in the place kept saying Where's Bobbby, but even at 15 I knew that was phucked up so I didn't mention him and took those autographs with glee.

I used to love to slow skate to There Will Never Be by Switch. This song takes me back to the roller rink.
