nice to see mariah have a hit again and selling so many albums
I don't like her at all, but it's always nice to see someone
who was labeled "over" or "has been" and "washed up" by todays
critics and record x-ecs have a big success again and prove m
all wrong.

lol It was all those reports about the low sales. They gave it a bit of free publicity - more than it had last week anyway.

The irony is that babayface's last album debut with 55k but only open at #25

just shows how weak albums sales are with virtually the same numbers

you can have a #10 album which b4 would only get you a #25 chart position

well it did improve however the numbers are too weak for someone who considers

himslef the king of pop

rapper Young Jeezy who isnt any king can sell so much more then MJ

Even if he makes a new album it will cost $51 mil just to get someting decent out

Even if he sells several million copies its still a money losing proposition

I think his last CD came out on Sept 11, 2001! It's definately a slow time of year and there just aren't enough big releases out there.

It's funny that the media kept harping on the fact that the MJ album did so poorly (both E! and Access Hollywood mentioned it) that it probably helped his sales....most people probably had no idea this CD was out....Over time it might sell over 100K. That's hardly great but it's better than most of them probably sell.

I am not a hater actually I like some of his work but no one has fallen so fast
in recent yrs.

He beat the molestation charges but most ppl think he did molest. Secondly he cant seem to make a album without spending so much money. Money so he can buy the talent he doesnt have. He didnt start making money personally until 2004 from invicible since all the debt had to be paid off.

I dont like this new group of manufactured artist. increasingly someone with no talent can have a hit being manufactured for them

Question for you asq - How many 'Essential' series albums do you know became big hits in the USA?

FYI, albums released under the '20th Century Masters' and 'The Essential' banner are not usually artist authorized compilations, but rather albums released by the artist's record company in order to cash in on their catalog.

It came as a big surprise to many MJ fans that the album debuted so high in certain countries (eg. UK #2, Ireland #2, France #1) based on this fact and the success of the 'Number Ones' project.

Anyways, I expect this album (like 'Number Ones') will enjoy steady sales. The sales increase this past week alone proves that not many people knew the album was released two weeks ago.

Didn't Rave sell about 91,000 in its first week and debuted at 19? Sales are weak.

I think it was 85k albums debuted at #18

sales hit a high at 942mil in 2000 and today its headed towards 600mil+ in 2005

in 2004 was the only yr the album sales didnt go down since 2000

but 2005 is proving to be the worse decline so far with sales down 8% so far

Missy's album has been falling quite a bit, eh? From 2, 7, 16 to 22, and it hasn't gone gold yet. She needs some strong singles or a tour to keep that album up there if she wants to get some of that revenue back.
