yes indeed, i took all those pics. we only saw the pixies and billy idol all the way through, though we poked our noses in for a bit of weezer and brian jonestown massacre during the day, and while we waited for the pixies we were able to gaze across the lawn for most of cake and primus. everyone was great with the exception of brian jonestown massacre - anton was his usual cranky self, ranting and raving about everything that was getting on his nerves and doing a piss-poor set, despite the fact that perry farrell graced him with a great introduction speech. billy idol was much better than i thought he'd be - consummate rock star entertainer - and the pixies were fantastic as always.

we showed up for day 2 but it was so damn hot and about three times as crowded as the previous day (which was plenty crowded), that we turned right around, did a little shopping in the loop, and went home. i was so beat from the heat that i spent most of the night sleeping it off. 103 degrees. insane. i hope the people who stuck around didn't get too jacked up.

the pixies.... sigh. so amazing live. i want to see them again dammit!!!!!

i heard a bit of liz when we first got there, but i had to get there late on saturday due to my improv class (and i missed M83 - color me dedicated!) and as soon as we got there, i wanted to see what kind of a mess anton newcombe was making, so we went straight to the brian jonestown massacre set just as perry farrell was introducing them. when we realized how bad anton & co. were going to suck, we went off to get some food and check out a fashion show, then we headed back to the stages to see billy idol and the pixies.

i'm bummed that i missed the arcade fire, but it was just too damn hot. i heard they did a fantastic job - most write-ups have been calling them and the pixies the best of the weekend - but there was no way i could sit through perry ferrell's new band with the dude from extreme for an hour in 105 degree heat, i don't care WHO was playing next.

Yeah, I've read that Liz has gone all AAA pop/Sheryl Crow-lite. Of the 20 reviews of her set that I've read, only one was favorable. The rest were brutal. So sad. She used to be so good.
