DARRYL HALL & JOHN OATES Daryl Hall returns to the road this weekend with John Oates
----- at 16:55 on August 3, 2005, EST. LOS ANGELES (AP) - Daryl Hall, diagnosed with lyme disease six weeks ago, returns to the road this weekend with John Oates. The pop music duo cancelled touring plans in support of their new album, Our Kind of Soul, after the 55-year-old Hall was diagnosed. He has been resting and taking antibiotics, publicist Jonathan Wolfson said Tuesday, and will continue to take antibiotics for up to two months. "Daryl's going to take a little time to get his energy back," Wolfson said. "He gives 1,000 per cent onstage." Lyme disease, caused by the bite of infected deer ticks, can cause arthritis, neurological problems and encephalitis, a potentially deadly brain inflammation. Early signs include a red "bulls-eye" rash that slowly spreads and flu-like symptoms. Hall and Oates are set to play six rescheduled shows, the first one in Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday. Dates in late August and throughout September with rocker Todd Rundgren are also scheduled to take place as planned. "This illness made it impossible for me to give my best effort to our audience, but now that it's been identified, I'm looking forward to a complete, quick recovery," Hall said in a statement on the duo's website. Hall and Oates are known for a stream of 1980s hits, including Kiss on My List, Maneater and I Can't Go for That (No Can Do). ©The Canadian Press, 2005 Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture!
