Sure long and sure incomprehensible.

Can't you just tell me what it is all about? Recap it for me in like three short sentences.

I can't read butchered up language like that.

Basicaly, everything exploded becoz of her "Fuck the police" statment.

Folks think you should stick with a certain attitude once you become a celeb when you're in fact nothing but a human being.

I love how she handled them tho.

This is def killing my looooong assed work hours(I haven't finished reading the thread).

My brother posts at that board.

I wasn't going to sit and read that whole thread this Sunday, so I just Alt + F'd Erykah's handle and read her responses.

I like how she handled it. And, seriously, as a celeb, she didn't even *have* to respond to a lot of those folks -- especially those looking to take pot shots.

She's a strong-minded sista that knows the ledge. 120 knowledge, 120 wisdom, 120 understanding. Not mad @ her. Do it.

lol...did you see that....ha

definitely some interesting exchanges over there. I do say big up to the chick that was questioning Erykah. Some would be so awe struck that wouldn't even approach a celebrity like that.

Not saying I agree...but big up.

nod You got that right TA Baby. I must say Erica really takes her music seriously and is a strong enough sistah to confront the critics of her music. Shit, it's deep to lurking over there and see this stuff unfold.

The Talented 10 I presume. disbelief

I can't really talk. I've still got a little of that idealist in me. I just tend to focus more on things that really matter these days-- like Prince's ethnicity. smile

Seriously though, if I thought it would've done any good I would've jumped in. A lot of good points being made on both sides.

Prince's indenity is so obvious. If you were truely an idealist as you say then, his ethnicity wouldn't come in question.

I was just kidding. My point was that I come here to argue about silly things rather than real issues.

Man, the OKPers make us look like we're having high tea at Buckingham Palace.

I do commend Badu for expressing her thoughts in a democratic forum. Most famous artists would not dare try that. And she didn't deserve some of the very personal things said about her.

But she came across as awfully condescending and petty towards buttersoul, which detracts from the message she was trying to convey and she belittled herself in the process.

I understand the reluctance of the OKPers to accept her statements at face value. Too many artists in black music today exploit our collective grief, in various ways, whether for the sake of their own image, or profit, or both. I think they saw a little of that in Badu's comments, rightly or wrongly.

Basically a poster is questioning Erykah's intergrity, her motivates and being VERY direct about it. Erykah made some "f%^k the police" comments that got criticized in the New York Post, i believe. Erykah decided to post her side of it and a poster "buttersoul" took Erykah to task regarding her basically "pimping" the hood for financial gain. I'm of course paraphrasing.

Its an interesting exchange.

Well, from what I am able to make out, the fans are being critical towards Erica Badu about her lyrics. The boards are hard to read over there.

nod Rhonda, you've been following better than myself. You gave a better summary of what's really going on the board.
