I saw one of her old videos last night on the VH1 classic soul channel for is it a crime? and I find that whenever any of her videos come on I can't stop watching her. What is it about her? She is obviously very beautiful and sophisticated but is there more?

She has a European, sophisticated, mulatto, ethereal, urbane quality about her. It’s all very neat and bourgeois, and imo boring.

I hear she’s a bitch in real life.

For me, she comes off as real, raw, and true. Not to just her music but to herself as a artist. She seems to me to be what a artist should be. Like, I make music and this is what comes out. Rather than some so-called artist who's music comes out like, if this cd dont sell x amount of copys I dont know what the hell I should try.

Sade is classic, as in a classic (read, "European") beauty of a black woman. Like a black Juliette Binoche, or a younger Lena Horne. She evokes the same vibe of strength, elegance and grace.

Her lyrics and vocal delivery (I love her voice, very horn-like) show how much more she is than some keen-featured, bright ingenue. She's a dyed-in-the wool artist.
