Can we invite dead folks? If so,

1. John Lennon
2. Patsy Cline
3. Prince
4. Madonna
5. Bono

Why? Because I think John Lennon was a poet. I don't agree with the way he treated his first wife or his son Julianne, but we're all fallible. I love the guy and wouldn't mind picking his brain. Patsy because she was a tough ol' broad from the days when women weren't expected to say boo. I really admire her for that. Bono, Maddy, and Prince - just for the opportunity of sitting back and watching in amazement (and horror) the battle of the egos and the inevitable pontificating on religious stances, the music biz, and their respective thoughts on why America rocks/sucks.

If we are dining in the land of the living:

1. Prince
2. Bono
3. Sting
4. Madonna
5. Liz Phair

I think Maddy and Liz could talk about the perplexities of what people want and when they want it; i.e., like when Maddy (though she'll always be sexy) tried to sober up her act a'la "American Life" and it didn't go so well in terms of record sales. On the flip side, Liz took the wonderful garage-sound genius of "Exile", buried it, and resurrected it only to wind up sounding like a soft-core porn version of Avril Levigne.

Prince, Bono, and Sting could talk about vegetarianism, marriage & fidelity, touring - and I'd pray to God I got the majority of them drunk enough to sing for hours and hours after the ice cream was served.
