Well, we ain't.

Recently,
Me'shell N'degeocello does it again! discusses Dance of the infidel, while this thread deals with her message.
I even mentioned this as album of the year here. Feel free to contribute to those threads!

I feel bad for not having picked this up yet. I'm a huge MeShell fan but it's such a bitch to get reasonably priced CDs round my way without ordering through the mail or going out of my way. I'll def pick up this weekend since I need new music desperately.

Come to think of it, ever since I heard Bitter I bought every Meshell album the day it came out --> "Cookie" (Borders - Torrance, CA), "Comfort Woman" (Wazoo Records - Ann Arbor, MI), "Dance of the Infidel" (Virgin Union Square - NYC).

This is the first one I haven't bought on the day of release in awhile. I wonder what Virgin NYC's charging? 15.99 Sale price? 18.99 regular?

Ah, see I was gonna pick it up at iTunes but was afraid I might miss out on artwork, important credits and liner notes (Im always concerned about that for the people I really like) but I might just say eff it so I can listen to it by this afternoon. Yeah, I think that's what I'll do. biggrin

It's all instrumental, right? I'm not that into her music, like her more as a personality/lyricist, so I can't imagine I'd be that into it. I'll check it out tho...

I think that was directed at Peace beyond passion wink

The only controversy about Dance of the infidel was that Verve Records considered putting out a mostly
instrumental album too much of a risk, resulting in Me'shell buying out her contract, after which Universal
France signed her. The new vocal album (being recorded as we speak) will be released by them as well. The US
distribution side is handled by Shanachie. Oh, and the European cover had Arabic symbols on it, a concept
which was pulled in favour of the butterfly, being the first working title of the project (Papillon).

Man, please. I've been praising this CD (here on the org) since I picked it up. Cassandra and Meshell are a great team. This so far is the best CD I've bought this year. I've already used it as "mood" music and it's on right now as I type this. Anyone who hasn't picked this up yet is really missing out.
