Who here listens to Jungle?

My boyfriend had his Roni Size cd on this morning in the car, and it's awesome. Does anyone here on the .org listen to Jungle?

Some. Not a lot. And most of it has been through remixes of some of my favorite artists. But I like the style.

I'm not sure I could tell you the differences between Jungle and Drum & Bass, honestly.

Basically, Jungle is Drum & Bass with a more hip-hop sound thrown in.

Not really. I'm more into drum 'n' bass.

Lately, I've been into electro mashups and prog house, though.

Moreover, Jungle was an attempt by black musicians and DJs in the dance music community to bring more of the "blackness" back into dance and reclaim it from the white DJs that were dominating the hardcore scene. Many felt that the mainstream dance, house and drum 'n' bass alienated funky and soulful elements. So, it has more overt R&B and reggae elements. More soulful with deeper bass, very complicated beats.

A good "Jungle" artist to start with would be Goldie. He's the most prolific.
