Can You Find a New Name for Your Albums?

There are a few select egomaniacal artists who insist on naming a good portion of their albums eponymously. The worst offender? Barbra Streisand.

The Streisand Album 1963

The Second Streisand Album 1963

My Name is Barbra 1965

My Name is Barbra Two... 1965

Color Me Barbra 1966

Simply Streisand 1967

Barbra Joan Streisand 1971

Classical Barbra 1976

Then there are my two personal favorite pieces of eponym ego...

Je M'appelle Barbra 1966

Barbra Streisand...and Other Musical Instruments 1973

Diana Ross also had approximately half a bajillion albums named after herself, but I'm too lazy to look up the names. Anyone else? Chicago did, but I don't think it was so much ego-driven. lol

I'm hoping that "fucking" part is an adjective and NOT a verb shake That could make it an unreleased Don Johnson album. Or worse yet...James Brolin!

Nah, if it's an adjective, it's the Babs record (which, by the way, is as legendary as Smile).

If it's a verb, it's a scarce English pressing of a Pierre Trudeau LP biggrin

I still haven't heard an album title more egotistical than "Willennium" by Will Smith.

Cher has at least two albums that were just self tittled. I think the first was from 1971 (and later retitled after the hit "Gypsies....") and her comeback from 1987. I don't think this was ego. She's been shifted from label to label so often (even back then) and I honestly don't think she could even name all her proper albums!

Correction, 3 "Cher" albums.

Cher-1966-Imperial
Cher-1971-MCA
Cher-1987-Geffen

Peter Gaberial's first four solo albums were apparently self titled!

Chicago and Led Zepllen (before them, right?) had self titled albums but used numbers to distinguish them. In the case of Chicago, it really seemed like lack of originality (all the album covers just had the same Chicago logo over different backgrounds and colors). Zep had creative covers and evantually had album's with names (I think starting with the brilliant "Houses Of the Holy")

Wonder when that Cd is coming out? If? I wouldn't be surprised if there is major damage control before the CD comes out because of the popularity of "Being Bobby Brown"...not really the popularity of the show but the popularity of the antics.

Some places list that as Streisand Superman, but I think it's name is actually just Superman. That's why I didn't list it.

I always thought that CD was called "Sterisand Superwoman". "Sterisand Superman" doesn't seem like something she would call herself.

Not attractive at all...It was her first solo album, right? Why not go for something glamourous and/or flashy since she was when she was in the Sumpremes and her first solo songs were like that as well. That album cover makes her look like a frigttened child. Not sexy at all unless your into kiddie porn. Someone call the police!

It's possible that this show IS the damage control. She's quite likeable and not all cracked out. Just wacky. Love it biggrin

I'd say she's likeable despite the fact that she's cracked out. She seems in a way to be a shell of herself. Still Whitney, but with a muted sort of personality.
