Joi, known in the musical underground as one of the originators of the NeoSoul genre released her new, "Star Kitty's Revenge", on the Universal Records label. Joi, married to Bigg Gipp from Goodie Mobb and good friends with Erykah Badu, replaced Dawn (En Vogue) in the funk soul trio "Lucy Pearl" along with Ali Shaheed Muhammad (Tribe Called Quest) and Raphael Saadiq (Tony, Toni, Tone). The NEW! Lucy Pearl consists of Joi and
Raphael Saadiq.

Her new album, "Star Kitty's Revenge" features collaborations with Saadiq (Whitney Houston, Tony Toni Tone, Angie Stone), Andre Betts (Madonna, Living Colour), and Sleepy Brown (Outkast, Organized Noise), amongst others.

I dug it too. It baffles me why BET isn't playing the video ... then again, this IS the station that plays UNCUT pornographic videos instead of those by respected musical artists, so I shouldn't be surprised.

You can even see the cameraman's shadow in the background waving his hand to the beat. At other parts, the rapper isn't even rapping to the right lyrics.

BET has become a poor imitation of MTV since Viacom took it over. Its sad what the station has become instead of what it could have become. Videos,comedy,and some lame ass movies(with a few,very few exceptions). I hope people don't think the stations programs are all black entertainment is supposed to represent.

This album is on it's way to me as I type this. I had a free gift certificate I thought I would use to try some new music.
